    1. [BLANKENSHIP] Elisha Blankenship Va 1800 >Mo 1850+
    2. Elisha Blankenship b) 1800 according to the 1850 Franklin Co. Mo. cenus He was married to Elizabeth b) 1805 Listed with Elisha and Elizabeth in the 1850 census were Charles H. , Nancy, William, Isaiah, Elizabeth, Martha, and Mary. Mary is the only one born in Mo. in 1848. The others were listed as being born in Va. Elisha bought land in Franklin Co. Mo in 1848. There are several family stories that I have been trying to prove or disprove. 1. That Elisha was adopted having been brought to the Blankenships in the middle of the night by some man. That he was brought to Mo. as a boy and grew up in Mo. 2. That Elisha married widow Elizabeth Emory and the children of her first husband took the name of Blankenship except William who left his name Emory and went to Nebraska. This has not been confirmed yet. 3.That it was Charles that was adopted by Elisha. 4. That it was Elisha who was an "Emory/Emery" before being adopted. Elisha's children as listed in 1850 census ---- Nancy b) 1829 nothing else known - she may have married and remained in Va. Wm. married Angeline Parks in 1859 Isaiah married Sophia Cromer in 1859 Elizabeth married Wm. Parks in 1859? Martha married Heinrich "Henry" Tieman in 1861 Mary no information known may have died young Charles children are easier to follow except for Sarah Ann who married James L. Terry and moved to Texas. Although the family has a picture of her in her later years not much else is known about her. Charles married first in Mo. Catherine Johnson in 1849. Their children were Sarah Ann, Mary E., Sedonia Jane, Thomas Wm. , Elisha Alfonzo, Charles Price, Nora Alice by his second wife Sophia Cromer Blankenship, widow of his younger brother. Charles' daughter Mary E. married Ben Terry in 1870. Sedonia Jane married S. Schults in 1880. Thomas W. married Rachel Bailey in 1883. Elisha Alfonzo married Sally Jameison in 1882 Charles Price married Mamie Jameison in 1882 Nora Alice married Rufus Eoff in 1889 If anyone information about this Elisha Blankenship I would appreciate the help. Muriel

    1. [BLANKENSHIP] Roll Call Blankenship
    2. John C. Carter
    3. Archibald Blankenship (b. ca. 1798, d. ca. 1860) came to the Capuchin Creek area bordering Campbell & Scott Counties, having reportedly married Sarah Richardson ca. 1817 in Ashe Co, NC. Archibald was the progenitor of the name throughout the Campbell and Scott County, TN area by way of his sons William, Canada, & Daniel, as well as by daughter Camilla's illegitimate son Ewell, who took the name Blankenship. A report of his descendants can be found on my website (link below). Once on the website, click on "Book: Link to John's Genealogy Reports," then on "Contents," then on "Register Report of Archibald Blankenship." Archibald has been listed as being the son of Arthur M. Blankenship of Lee Co, VA (b. ca. 1770, d. ca. 1863), however this is in doubt, as evidence has been uncovered showing that there were perhaps two different Archibald Blankenships. Also, there was no Archibald included in the settlement of Arthur M's estate. The possibility exists that he was an illegitimate child of Arthur M, and/or perhaps was adopted out. I would greatly appreciate any info that anyone might have on the ancestry of Archibald Blankenship of Capuchin Creek, Scott Co, TN. Thanks! John John C. Carter http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/a/r/John-C-Carter/ Maternal surnames: Adams, Blankenship, Brewster, Cogan, Daugherty, Davis, Erpe, Frazier, Griffith, Ham, Harris, Holt, Lewallen, Ludlow, Muncy/Munsey, Murphy, Oaks, Richardson, Risner, Salyers, Scott, Skidmore, Smith, Spence, Thompson, Trammell, York.
