Received the following from Pat Blanchard Curry today. These are her responses to some of your posts to this list the past few months. Tom Wilde, IBSSG <mailto:wildeman1@home.com> ****************** New Responses by Pat Blanchard Curry, 3414 Fleetwood Dr. Richmond, CA 94803-2012 To "ai020@chebucto.ns.ca" [Ranald Blanchard] of 31 Aug 1998 Re JOTHAM [1744-1807] & desc. of the "Joseph" line: Thanks for the corrections & additions. I am removing Jotham [b 1784] as one of his children & confirming that the Jotham who married Margaret ( ) Spears was the son of Jonathan & Sarah. [Thanks to Sherry Gould for catching the duplication!!] As to gen. 7 William Henry Blanchard [1827- ], his 2 wives & their children: Thanks for adding Maria's children [I assume John Waddell Blanchard [1863- ] is your great grandfather. ] Looking to the time when the "Joseph" line will be updated on the web, would appreciate having a FGS for William Henry, etc. so the data is properly corrected. *************** To "mgus@t-one.net" [Margaret Gustafson] Aug-Sep 1998 Re FREDERICK [1805-1850], son of Jotham & Ruhama: I would appre- ciate having FGS's or Family Bible data for Frederick & his children. In my outline of Samuel-2 & desc., I'm trying to include data through the 9th generation. Snail-mail would be fine. ********************* To "pkp33@ix.netcom.com" [Penny] of 7 Aug 1998 Re possible death date of SAMUEL BLANCHARD [b 1716/17, Andover, MA] who married Ruth Tenney: There is a suggestive entry in the Boston paper "Columbian Centinal" of 1 Mar 1806: Samuel Blanchard, ae 89, died in Dracut, MA. This death is not list- ed in the printed VR of either Dracut or Andover; however in the 1800 census for Dracut, Middlesex, MA, p49 is a Samuel & wife, both over ae 45, as well as Caleb Blanchard & fam. [known to be the son of Samuel & Ruth (Tenney) Blanchard]. Both Caleb & his sister Ruth were eventually in Antrim, NH. *********************** To "gvc@mail.HughesTech.Net" [Shirley Cotter] on 18 Aug 1998 Re CALEB [b 1797], son of Isaac, & wife Penelope Aldrich. Caleb had brothers Daniel, Robert, Howland, Sherman & Isaac according to Crandall's "Blanchard's of Rhode Island". Supposedly wife Penelope Aldrich was born 14 Jan 1800, Guilford, Windham, VT to Jonathan & Amelia (Gaines) Aldrich according to an article in "Branches & Twigs" v8 pp114-117; publ. by the Geneal. Soc. of Vermont. It is certainly possible that Amelia's surname might really be "JAMES" rather than "GAINES" but at least the latter spelling adds some alternatives to your research... Caleb and Penelope may have married c1825 in Preble, Cortland, NY and her mother Amelia Aldrich seems to have been in Cortland Co., NY in 1838 when they released their interest in some of Amelia's land there. [Cortland Co. deed 6:287] **************** To DBlanch100@aol.com" [Daniel] Re SUSANNA (BATES), wife of NATHANIEL [d 1676]. According to a corresp. there was an article in "American Genealogist" some- time in 1922 which said she was bapt 22 Jan 1633/34, Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, ENG & was the dau of Edward & Susanna (Putnam) Bates. ***************** To "QSCB31A@prodigy.com" [Eileen N. Bernier] on 30 Aug 1998 Re your IDA AMANDA [1860-1917] who m Charles E. Pitts & whose parents were ALLEN JOHN BLANCHARD & wife Jane DANIELS of VT: -In the 1860 VT index, no Allen's are listed in Windsor Co. There is an Allen listed p136, Danville, Caledonia Co. which needs to be checked. Also in 1860 in Chittenden, Rutland Co. is an Allen & [Emily] Jane + 7 children who belong among the desc. of George-2 Thomas-1. The youngest child listed is son Isaac, b Jul 1859. [Your Ida A., b Jan 1860, should be listed in the 1860 census which was taken around June -- unless her birthdate is slightly "off"]. If you check the 1860 Danville Twp "Allen" without finding your Ida A., I'd be glad to ex- change data on the Allen [b c1817/20] of Rutland Co. [slightly older than indicated by your data]. ************************** To "tnash@mindspring.com" [Tiffany Nash] on 29 Aug 1998 Re CALVIN "W.", b c1818, & wife "Permelia": Among the desc. of the early William Blanchard of Rhode Island is a Calvin Howard Blanchard [1816-1879] who m1 Eleanor Zerba & m2 Permelia [or Pamela] Lyons. From these 2 marriages he had the 7 children you listed + Augusta, b c1862. He came from Rutland Co., VT & res. IN, MI, WI, NE & OR. If this fits your family, I'll be happy to exchange data via "snail-mail"... ******************** To "tbng@blazenet.net" [Dennis Brandt] on 24 Jul 1998 Re WILLIAM "T.", Capt., Co. I, PA Bucktail Regt.; McKean Co., PA: In the misc. files of the Warren Co., PA Historical Society is an item about his Civil War service which says he was in New- port, Campbell Co., KY in 1906 & also gives his birth as 26 Mar 1838, Palmer, MA. This birth record identifies him as the son of William J. & Jane M. (Shearer) Blanchard -- all being desc. of George-2 Thomas-1. Perhaps from transcription errors, his middle initial is given variously as J., S. or T. ***************** To "JChampion@InfoAve.Net" [Jane Champion] on 31 Aug 1998 Re HORACE & KATHERINE who married PIER cousins: They were both children of Jedediah & Abigail as you believe. Katherine died 23 Feb 1859, Jamestown, NY. [There is no connection with the Caleb Blanchard of Antrim, NH] ***************** To Gloria Blanchard [via Ranald Blanchard] on 23 Aug 1998 Re ANNE J., b 1863, Windham, NH; dau of BENJAMIN E. & Zoe: They are desc. in the Samuel-2 Thomas-1 line, as you probably know. Rockingham Co., NH probates to 1894 do not include either Benj. or Zoe. A study of Rockingham Co. deed indexes from the 1860's forward might show trans. by Benj. E., Zoe or their heirs which could include Anne, her sister Louisa & their spouses, if any. ********************* To jlwitty@centex.net [Joy B. Witty] on 24 Aug 1998 Re ETHELRED, c1800, NC; 1860 res. of Benton Co., TN: This may not be of too much help but he seems to be listed in the 1850 NC census index--Cumberland Co., NC, p124. [Other Blanchard's that year are Jackson, p133; Edith, p156; James, p160] ******************** Would appreciate an exchange of data on the following: To "cpbush@mindspring.com" [Carolyn & Paul Bush] on 27 Aug 1998 Re ALLEN Jr [b c1837, Kingfield, Franklin, ME] & son Oramendal: Would like to know more about Allen Jr, wife & all their child- ren in order to expand the knowledge of the desc. of Nathaniel, son of Thomas-1, at least through the 9th generation. Also, there are some misc. Blanchard's in Franklin Co., ME whose "lines" haven't been identified - at least by me. Would be very pleased to exchange data via "snail-mail" -- even of the misc. & unattached Blanchard's you may have noted. ************************* INDEX ALLEN c1817/20 b VT 1998 10 06 ALLEN JOHN 1860 res Windsor Co., VT 1998 10 06 ALLEN c1837 b Kingfield, Franklin, ME 1998 10 06 CALEB 1844 d Diana, NY 1998 10 06 CALVIN c1818 b VT 1998 10 06 ETHELRED 1860 r Benton Co., TN 1998 10 06 FREDERICK 1850 d Baton Rouge, LA 1998 10 06 IDA AMANDA 1860 b Windsor Co., VT 1998 10 06 JOTHAM 1744 b Dunstable, NH 1998 10 06 KATHERINE (PIER) 1818 m Jamestown, Chautauqua, NY 1998 10 06 LOVISA PIER 1817 m Chautauqua Co., NY 1998 10 06 SAMUEL 1716/17 Andover, MA 1998 10 06 SUSANNA (BATES) 1658 m Charlestown, MA 1998 10 06 WILLIAM HENRY 1827 b Nova Scotia 1998 10 06 WILLIAM T. 1860's r McKean Co., PA 1998 10 06 ***************** Note: Please write to Pat via US Postal Service ("snail mail") at her address above.
