Group, I'd like to thank all who contributed to the following database. I have seen the work of my great-grandfather on my mother's (Charlotte Ruth Blanchard) side, Arthur William Blanchard of North Adams MA, contained in the work. His genealogy was published in 1935. It is nice to see that the research he had done at the beginning of this century, with the old-fashioned digging through libraries, cemeteries and other vital records has been confirmed by the more modern means of today. In an interesting side note, I spent several years looking for the family of a Betsy Blanchard, who was my 5thgreat-grand mother on my father's side. (Betsy Blanchard - Lucinda Flagg - Harriet Bosworth, Lucinda Church - Mabel Nichols - Harold Hobby - James Hobby - Ward Hobby). It was a long time searching, as I only had the marriage site of Betsy Blanchard to John Flagg of Winchendon, MA, but references to New Hampshire domicle. I searched high and low in southern NH, but couldn't find her birth. Then the first Thomas/Joseph Blanchard database was released to the Blanchard-L. I searched through there to no avail. When I saw this latest release and its greater number of Blanchards, I downloaded the site, and printed off the pages (one Saturday -- all day!). Lo and behold, I found my Betsy Blanchard marrying John Flagg, only her birthplace wasn't in southern NH, but in Ashby, MA!!!! I never looked there before this. It has been really exciting looking at the earlier marriages. I now tell me dad, that he too is related to mom, not just by marriage, but they are 8th or 9th cousins! I really appreciate all the research done by the contributers to the database. It has really firmed up this loose end.
