    3. Hi Kathi, You wrote: > Here is some information from a Fort Ann 1855 census I have: >Blanchard, Charles 53 b. Canada > " Mary 50, b. Wash. Cty. Although one interpretation of the differing birth places is that they moved a lot, another is that they are, in fact, different families (although probably related). Note that Mary would have had to to 49 when the youngest, Catherine, was born. Not impossible but doubtful. Charles + Mary .Charles + Margaret ..Catherine .Julia .Amos .Edward .Noel .Betsey or Charles + Mary .Margaret (husband absent or deceased) ..Betsey ..Catherine .Julia .Amos .Edward .Noel or children of Charles and Mary: Charles, Edward, Noel someone else's children (a brother or sister, perhaps): Margaret, Julia, Amos, Betsey Catherine may be the child of Mary, Margaret, Julia, or someone else. After checking the 1830 Federal Census for New York I found a single Charles Blanchard in Clinton County but the ages do not seem to fit: Charles (head of household) < 5 5-10 10-15 15-20 30-40 40-50 Males 1 1 1 1 Females 2 1 1 1 My g-g-grandfather George Blanchard (who claimed Clinton County as place of birth) would have been born around 1824 and, therefore, could fit into this family as the 5-10 year old boy. I tried the 1840 Federal census for Vermont (where Margaret and Julia should show up as children). There are two Charles Blanchards shown in that census (one in WIND, another in CHIT). Neither seem to fit the family you show in the 1840 time frame. To me this further supports the notion that the family you show is, in fact, multiple families. If you (or anyone on the Blanchard list) can supply any more info I would very much appreciate it as I am stuck here. Sincerely, Dave Schuler Chicago, Illinois
