In searching the Blanchard surname on Ancestry's new database page, I came across an obituary of interest to myself but was disconnected. It appeared in the file 'Sun-Sentinel (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), Obituaries, 1993-1999 Posted on 9/16/99'. The time limit for free viewing was up before my next online connection. I managed to get the last part of the obituary which concerns a 'Mrs. Walls'. Although not my lineage of personal research, I would be interested to know if anyone would have her name and lineage to Jonathan Blanchard. ----- Ft. Lauderdale, FL died Saturday, July 12, 1997. A resident since 1931, formerly of Indianapolis, Ind. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale. Mrs. Walls was named "Broward County Women's Tennis Champion" of 1932. She also was the greatgranddaughter of Jonathan Blanchard, founder of Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. Mrs. Walls is predeceased by husband, Herb, and a daughter, Ginny. She is survived by daughter, Marcia MacRae (Ron) of Ft. Lauderdale; sons, Byron (Ellen) of Ft. Lauderdale, and Robert (Betty) of Lawrenceville, GA; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 7-9 PM, Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at FAIRCHILD FUNERAL HOME, 299 N. Federal Hwy., Ft. Lauderdale, 954-763-4488. Services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
