I am in contact with relatives of their ancestors' overseas. BLANCHARD's were French Huguenots. Fled to England. Emigrated to Boston, Mass., (USA) in 1637. From there to New Hampshire and on to Nova Scotia, (Canada). WILLIAM EARLE BLANCHARD & wife ELLEN CURRIE/CURRY came to Victoria, Australia circa 1850s, & lived at EMERALD HILL "Tent City" at South Melbourne for a while. Most of the family seems then to have gone to settle in Sydney, New South Wales area. Son JOTHAM BLANCHARD went to Queensland. Married LIZZIE WEEDON born Warwickshire, England in 1868. Settled in MARYBOROUGH Queensland, area. His son SAMUEL THOMAS (TOM) BLANCHARD, married PHOEBE ELIZABETH MEREDITH/MERIDETH in 1902. Phoebe's parents were EDWIN MEREDITH & ELIZABETH SHEPHERD. Both from Staffordshire in England, married Shropshire, England, 1862. Have never found either family's shipping record into Australia. Be glad to hear from any descendant and swap information.
