    1. [BLANCHARD] Pierre BLANCHART, Walloon Church, Southampton, c1580
    2. Fletcher Blanchard
    3. Fred Hartley [ fredkwh@incubus.demon.co.uk ], a long-time member of BLANCHARD-L, sent me this some time ago and I intended to post it to the List. Those of you involved in the search for the parents of the immigrants, Thomas, and his presumed brother Joseph, may find this interesting. These data were extracted from the Registers of the Walloon Church of Southampton and copied from: The Publications of the Huguenot Society of London Vol. IV 1890. ______ (These are all the entries for Blanchart, etc. apart from citations of Blancharts as Godfathers. F.H.) 19 May 1577 Marriage of Pierre BLANCHART and Collette MARTIN. (The entry says Pierre was without father or mother) 9 Mar 1578 Baptism of Pierre son of Pierre BLANCHART 26 Apr 1579 Baptism of Jacob son of Pierre BLANCHART 19 Jun 1580 Baptism of Jan son of Pierre BLANCHART. _______ There is little here to suggest that this Pierre BLANCHART had any connection to the the 'elusive' Pierre Jean BLANCHARD, rumored to have emigrated from Cap de la Hague, Normandy France to England, and claimed by some to have been the father of Thomas and Joseph and to have been a member of the French Huguenots. However, the time period is about right and perhaps there were other children of Pierre and Collettte. Fred recently sent me the extracts in their original form (French) and a document that was extracted from "The Walloon Settlement and the French Church at Southampton", by W. J. C. Moens, F.S.A.; Published in the Proceedings of the Huguenot Society of London Vol. III 1888-91. To make this available to those who have an interest, I will add both of these to the BLANCHARD-L Web Page and, for now, will include it under "Blanchard Links" with the title. "Search for the Origins of the Immigrants, Thomas and Joseph BLANCHARD." I'd like to make this a 'clearing house' for any and all information that might help us to discover and document the parentage of Thomas and Joseph. Please submit any information that you think would be appropriate, directly to me, so I can add it to the page. Fletch BLANCHARD-L Web Page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~blanch-l/blpref.html
