It appears that the male head of the household is named Fed (sic). (Fred?) His wife is called Lydia here, not Lovina, but she is 42 years old, and born in New York. IGI # 1761188 Event Text: birth event on 11 Apr 1826 Ancestral File says born Cuyler, NY Event Text: death event on 20 Aug 1908 "Davenport Democrat and Leader", Aug. 20, 1908, p. 11.: "Blanchard" "Another well known Scott county resident, one who knew this part of the state for nearly 50 yesrs, died this morning shortly after 5 o'clock, at the home of his daughter , 217 East Fifteenth street. Franklin Blanchard was born in Cortland county, N.Y., April 11, 1826. He came to Iowa in December 1861, and settled in Davenport. Later he tried Marshall county for a few years, engaged in farm work and fruit growing but he returned to this county which may be said to have been his home. For several years he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. Addie A. Maxwell. Mr. Blanchard was married Feb. 1, 1850 [sic], to Miss Lovina Larrabee, in central New York, and they celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. Blanchard died Aug. 11, two years since, in this city. Two children survive, Mrs. Maxwell and George H. of Lincloln, Neb., both being with their father when he passed away and for some days before. A brother of the deceased, Marshall Blanchard, lives at De Ruyter, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. William Weygindtat McCook, Neb. Mr. Blanchard, though in retirement for several years on accont of his age and condition of health, had many friends. He was thoughtful of others, considerate, and always devoted to his family. Sincere and honest he made friends and kept them. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from 217 East Fifteenth street. The interment at Oakdale will be private." " Blanchard" After an illness extending through two years, the last year being one of great physical pain, Mrs. Lovina Blanchard passed away peacefully last evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. A. A. Maxwell, 217 East Fifteenth street. The desceased was born December 29, 1828 at Cuyler, Courtland county, N.Y., where she spent her youth and near where she (then Miss Lovina Larrabee) was married to Frank Blanchard, February 1, 1851. In December 1862, Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard came to Davenport, and with the exception of short periods, this city has been their home ever since. In February last they observed the 55th anniversary of their marriage. Mrs. Blanchard became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in young womanhood, and was identified with that denomination so long as she lived. She was a woman of strong convictions of duty, thoughtful of others, consistent life, and kindly deeds in a modest way. The surviving relatives are the husband, living at the home designated; a son, George H. Blanchard, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of theis city; a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Maxwell of Davenport; two brothers W. H. and Charles Larrabee, and a sister, Mrs. Sophia Bustin, of Syracuse, NY., and a grandson, Archie F. Maxwell, of Pittsburg, Pa. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from 217 East Fifteenth street.
