    1. Franklin BLANCHARD, Truxton, Cortland, NY
    2. Fletcher Blanchard
    3. New member Bill Kullman posted some information on Franklin BLANCHARD and his wife, Lovina LARRABEE BLANCHARD who were born in Truxton/Cuyler, Cortland, NY 1826/1828. He also indicated that he was interested in any additional information about this family that our list members might provide. Whenever you hear about early BLANCHARDs in Cortland Co., NY, you can be quite sure that they are descendants of Azariel BLANCHARD, who settled there after the Rev. War and generated a large body of descendants, many of whom stayed in that part of NY state. Azariel is a descendant of Thomas BLANCHARD, the immigrant, through the line Thomas > George > George > William > Azariel. David C. Crankshaw, formerly a resident of Cortland Co. and now a resident of FL, has prepared an extensive file on the descendants of Azariel, one of whom is Dave's wife. This file can be accessed as a web page via the BLANCHARD-L Web Page at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~blanch-l/blpref.html by taking the link from the "Links to Blanchard Databases ..." You will find (78) Franklin BLANCHARD and his son (179) George H. BLANCHARD, according to Dave's record numbering system. There may not be much new material here for Bill on the family of Franklin and Lovina but the complete genealogy back to Thomas, can be found. ________ This is a good opportunity to remind you all to take advantage of the BLANCHARD-L Web Page and to visit our List Archives regularly, to search for information on your families/names that may have been posted over the past 3 1/2 years. Web addresses are given in the Greetings/Guidelines that was sent to each member (a copy of G/G can be found on our Web Page) and are included in the several 'tag lines' that appear at the end of all message posted to the List. Also, be sure to use appropriate and descriptive Subject: lines on all of your posts. There are at least three reasons for doing this: The RootsWeb Threaded Archives depends on these Subject: lines to group all related messages, it is much easier to locate or 'sort' messages if they are properly identified in the Subject: line, and when searching the Archives, you can, for example, enter the search string subject/Lemuel and it will return all messages that contain 'Lemuel' in the Subject: line. I hope that "Y2K" was not a problem for any of you and that 2000 will be a very productive year in your genealogical research. Fletch
