    3. Dear fellow Blanchard researchers: After a long dry spell I finally received some information that may contribute to my researches on my Blanchard line by checking out the WorldConnect project. Listed was the following George H. Blanchard b. 11 Jun 1812 in New York, d. 1 Jun 1891 in Chicago, Illinois. Wife Julina Margaret McIntyre, b. 27 Apr 1831 in New York. Children: Charles Louis Blanchard, b. 14 Feb 1854 in Buffalo, New York. This _almost_ fits the George Blanchard who was my great-great-grandfather. Here are the vital statistics that I have based on the 1855 New York state census and the 1860 federal census for Buffalo, New York: George Blanchard born c. 1824, wife Margaret born c. 1831. Children: Harriet, 1849 George, 1852 Charles, 1856 Mora, 1860 The indications that suggest that these are my g-g-grandparents are: 1. George's occupation is listed as engineer in the 1887 Chicago city directory. My g-grandfather George's occupation was engineer. 2. Middle name of wife is correct (Margaret) 3. Birth year of wife is correct. 4. Placement in Buffalo in correct time frame. 5. Absence of other George Blanchards in Buffalo in correct time frame. 6. Son Charles of approximately the right age. 7. The only documentation of George's age in the WorldConnect listing is from his death certificate (which could be wrong). The indications that suggest that these people are not my g-g-grandparents: 1. George's age does not fit. 2. Wife's first name is Julina (although middle name is Margaret). 3. Charles's age does not fit. 4. No other children are documented. Okay, here's my question: what would constitute proof? Also, I've referenced the New York state census for 1855, the federal census of New York for 1860 (I've had no luck finding anyone in the 1870 census), Buffalo and Chicago city directories, the federal census of Missouri for 1880, the St. Louis city directories, marriage record for my g-grandfather and g-grandmother, and baptismal certificates for my grandfather and his siblings. Ideas on what I should look for now? Dave Schuler Chicago, Illinois
