Hobbsville, NC--Hazel Umphlett BLANCHARD, 92, of the 4100 block of Virginia Road, died August 10, 2000 in Britthaven of Edenton (North Carolina). Mrs. Blanchard was born in Chowan County. The daughter of the late Lewis N. and Fornie Briggs Umphlett, she was a homemaker, had served as a caregiver for the sick and had taught piano. She was a member of Warwick Baptist Church, the WMU, and had been very active in recording the history of the church. The was the wife of the late Ores Blanchard. Preceded in death by her only child, a daughter; Helen B. Davis, last Friday, August 4th, she is survived by three grandchildren. A funeral will be held 3pm Sunday in Warwick Bapt Church with burial after in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7 to 8:30 pm in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at home of her grandson, Bernard B. Davis, 211 Hawthorne Road, Edenton.
