My wife's great-grandmother, FRANCES BLANCHARD (birthplace and date unknown, died February 1942, probably Fulton Co, NY) married ASAH SHERMAN (no dates or places known to me), probably prior to the birth of their first child, Harrison Morton Sherman (02AUG1888). Their other children were Clyde (NFI), Hazel (NFI), and Lora (married a Wilder, NFI). My wife's grandfather, the aforementioned Harrison Morton Sherman, was born in the Town of Johnstown, Fulton Co, NY, and owned a tannery in Gloversville, Fulton Co, where he died on 22OCT1967. He steadfastly refused to discuss his father, so we have no information on his Sherman antecedents (and the vast number of Shermans in Fulton and surrounding counties since pre-Revolutionary times makes researching them a nightmare). Apparently, he knew nothing of his mother's (FRANCES BLANCHARD's) family, and passed nothing about his own siblings, Clyde, Hazel, and Lora, on to his daughter, my mother-in-law. I mention all these minor details in hopes that (a) the fairly firm Fulton Co location will strike a responsive note in other researchers, and (b) the childrens' names may reflect names from the Blanchard side of the family. I am seeking any information on FRANCES BLANCHARD (? - 1942, probably Fulton Co, NY) or, for that matter, the antecedents of Asah Sherman or data on their children Clyde, Hazel, and Lora Sherman Wilder.
