A few of us (Jim Cooney, Barbara Torelli and perhaps others) in this group descend from Samuel Blanchard who married Mercy Richardson March 27, 1727 in Hampton, Windham, Connecticut. I have suspected that Samuel may in some way be related to Thomas Blanchard (the emigrant)...but, to my knowledge, there is no known link to this line of New England Blanchards. I have been in contact with someone who has done quite a bit of research on the Ezekiel Richardson family from Massachusetts who believes(although has NO PROOF) that our Mercy Richardson could be the daughter of Josiah Richardson b. May 18, 1665 in Chelmsford,Middlesex, MA d. Oct 17, 1711 in Chelmsford, Middlesex, MA and Mercy (Mary) Parish (some records show Parris) b. January 5, 1667/8. They had a duaghter Mercy who would have been about the same age as "our" Samuel Blanchard. Browsing through Ancestry.Com on-line database yesterday, I may have come across some interesting information which may eventually provide an insight... Based on text from "Early Generations of the Founders of Old Dunstable, THIRTY FAMILIES" Mercy (Mary) Parish is the daughter of Robert Parish and his second wife, Mary Crispe. After Mary Crispe's death, Robert married Elizabeth Blanchard, the daughter of Deacon John and Hannah (Hills) Blanchard. This would seem to indicate that Mercy Richardson would have had contact with her step-grandmother's Blanchard family in Massachusetts. Did she perhaps marry into this family? After Robert Parish's death, Elizabeth married, second, 1710 Deacon Thomas Burrage. Does anyone with information on this line of the Blanchard family have a record of a Samuel Blanchard or Mercy Richardson? Did Elizabeth have any nephews/relatives by the name of Samuel who may fit into this picture? Thanks, Jane Champion Banner Elk, NC
