Re JOHN GOWEN BLANCHARD (1799-1834) & family; First the birth date for Edward Wyatt BLANCHARD I gave in my Blanchard Connection message of 3/18/98 was incorrect - it should be: 25 Feb 1829, (source-Vital records & Obituary File of Maryland Historical Society Library "d. 29 Aug. 1877 in 49th year" and letter from Rev. Halsey M. Cook of Saint Paul's Parish, Baltimore, MD describes a plaque in the Church which reads "Edward Wyatt Blanchard 1829-1877 Vestryman") which would be consistent with the age given in the 1850 census. The 1825 date came from "The Cattell Family in America" by Donald Heys Rogers. I believe that the children of John Gowen BLANCHARD and Elizabeth Hance PHILPOT were all born in Maryland as John was rector of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Annapolis at the time of their births.
