My family history (my dead end)begins with my grandfather George B.He came from England sometime in the 1920's.From what I understand he was schooled in a Methodist orfanage in Wayburn Sask. I think, and went to U. of Sask. He was part of the team that built the largest grain elevators in the world at that time, in Thunder Bay Ont.He went on to become alderman and mayor of Port Arthur and also founded the Masoic Temple there. Where he came from in England I don't know. The last name Blanchard stands for "white cart" in French. I understand it began in Normady France. It could be that the origin came from a man riding a white cart around town selling fresh vegies. It could also be possible that the reason that so many of us are of English back ground is that during the French revotion that lots of us fled to England. I have heard various roumors about my family history, all unconfirmed. JUst speculation that it was a Blachard that fist crossed the English chanall in a hot air balloon, and a Blanchard fist to use a parrashoot. I am also told that a Blanchard was a gardener for Royalty and ran off with one of their daughters. All unconfirmed. If any has word I would be glad to hear it.
