    3. The world does not end at the boundries of our countries, does it? Jean Ohai <jeanobai@worldnet.att.net> printed the installments of Blanchard references from the genealogical periodical index (PERSI). PERSI index is maintained by Allen County Public Library of Fort Wayne, IN. For those unfamiliar with PERSI index, Jean can also give the complete instructions on how to request copies from Allen County Public Library of articles found in PERSI. I have been researching the surname BLANCHARD. Is it of French or English origin? If one goes back to the 100 years war between Britain & France, (somewhere in the 1350-1450s) prisoners were taken on both sides. Then in the religious war in France (1562-1598) the persecution of the French Protestants (Huguenots) apparently over 10,000 perished &/or escaped. Please excuse if I'm off a few years, either way. I am not an authority on either history or genealogy. However, another example, (this is in more recent times), the 1755 Grand Deportation of thousands of Acadians from Nova Scotia - how many descendants, (who were children) don't even know their heritage. Over time, many of the descendants' names have been changed through adoptions or misspellings. And there have been some pathetic census takers when it came to spelling of French surnames. For Theriault, I have at least 5 aka's. If one only knew the complete history of the past, our genealogical research would be much easier, eh, Carole? Martha BLANCHARD from Alberta.
