    2. Tom Wilde
    3. Hi Blanchard Seekers; Following are responses from Pat Blanchard Curry to some of the Nov-Dec entries indexed on BLANCHARD-L. Since it is a rather long list, I have divided it into two parts. If you have a message for Pat, would like to exchange data with her, or require information about her sources, you may write to her direct via snail mail (she is not online) or you may forward it to me and I will send it to her with my next mailing of BLANCHARD-D Digests (about every two weeks). Pat's smail address is: Mrs. Pat Blanchard Curry 3414 Fleetwood Dr. Richmond, CA 94803-2012 Part I Re ancestry of MOULTON BLANCHARD [1784-1868] - possibility that his father might be a JOSEPH Blanchard who may or may not have married a Miss ___ Moulton. [Moulton was b MA or NH; known to have married in VT before settling in NY. Moulton's brother James, b c1795/96, MA or NY] A good candidate suggested by John Chandler: --JOSEPH [b 1761, Charlton, MA; son of James and Hannah]; his wife is unknown; served in Rev War [1780]; may be listed Brookfield, MA in 1790 with a son b 1774/90. Not ident. after 1790. --Note a JOSEPH, b before 1765, listed with "wife" & 3 younger females in 1810 St. Lawrence Co., NY [Would like to know who this man is.] --If Joseph did not marry a Miss Moulton, consider JOSEPH [b 1756, son of Samuel; desc. of Nathaniel]; known res of Stoughton, MA [1774]; of Mansfield, MA [1775]; wife was Salome Wellman; they supposedly went to Colerain [in present Franklin Co.], MA; left traces in Cheshire Co., NH deed [1781]; in Jamaica, Windham, VT [1785-1796]. Their known child was an Asa b 1775, MA; however the 1790 census shows 3 other sons, b 1774-90 & possibly 2 daughters. One of the sons might be Moulton, but until we can locate the family in MA or NY c1795/6 we can't account for a son James. [On the bright side, census data can be woefully imprecise & James seems to be very uncertain where he was born according to his various census statements.] --For John Chandler's consideration: -JOSEPH [b 1762, RI] was a gr-grandson of the William of RI; he went to area of present Luzerne Co., PA; served in the Rev. War there; later settled in NY. His known children [b 1793-1820] unfortunately did not include a James. -JOSEPH [b 1765] & later of Lewiston, ME is the man who m Hannah Mooar [see her widow's Rev War Pens. Appl.] lablanchard@classic.msn.com "Lou Ann Blanchard" --STILLMAN R. BLANCHARD [1847- ]: son of Barnard & Harriet (Fuller) Blanchard; desc. of ["Joseph"] & Ann. Married 1877 to Julana Bower of NY. --STILLMAN BLANCHARD [1813- ], son of Benj. & Patty (Rowe), is the grandson of MOSES & Azuba (Blodgett); desc. of George-2 Blanchard. Note: Benjamin [1786-1869], son of Abel of Peacham, VT, did not have a son Stillman... --STILLMAN BLANCHARD [b c1796/8- ], possibly a son of BRYANT & Mary Blanchard of various locations in Rutland Co., VT; and possibly a desc. of George Blanchard. This Stillman settled in Lenawee Co., MI. [More data needed on desc. of Bryant & this Stillman] **************************** To: RBB413@aol.com ["Ron"] & others Re ancestry of THOMAS BLANCHARD [1788-1864], the inventor. --His obit. in NEHG Reg. v18:pp296-7 names parents [Samuel & Susannah (Tenney) Blanchard] & grandparents [Joseph & Abigail (Brewer) Blanchard]. Joseph [b 1713] ident. as son of Thomas [b 1687/88] in Worcester Co., deeds & Littleton VR. This Thomas-4 ident. as son of Joseph & grandson of George-2 in George's probate & other sources. [Thus: Thomas-7, Samuel-6, Joseph-5, Thomas-4, Joseph-3, George-2, Thomas-1] Note: Thomas-4 also had a son Thomas [possibly b 1725/30 but not recorded in Littleton]; proved by 1784 Worcester Co. deed of Joseph-5. --Joseph-5 & Abigail's children included John [c1744], Samuel [1749], Joseph [1751], Abigail [1754], Ann [1756], Thomas [b possibly c1760], a daughter [c1762]. --Re Samuel-6: The Tenney family history publ. 1904 names Abigail Tenney's parents, claims she was b in Sutton & names all 9 children of Samuel & Abigail including Abiathar. --Re Thomas-7, b 1788: Born "21 Jun", Sutton [Tenney fam. hist.] or "23 Jun", Oxford [per obit.] or "24 Jun", Oxford Gore [per Benedict & Tracy's History of Sutton]. ***************************** To Nohitter45@aol.com ["Tom Magoon"] Re MICHAEL Blanchard [1786, CND]; married Frances "WHITE" b 1792 Is this the family which was in Ontario Co., NY [1818], Delaware Co., OH [1820-1839], Whitley Co., IN [1840-->]? Children may include Davis, Amos, Chauncey, Clarissa. Desire corresp. to clarify data on this family in the U.S.A. *********************** To JCHBN... [John Chandler] Re John Blanchard of 1790 & 1800 Concord, NH: He was b 1737, Andover, MA & d 1823, Concord, NH & is a desc. of Samuel-2; he M1 Eleanor Stevens; children include Joseph, John, Stevens, Sarah, David & Moses. [1790 household incl. his last 2 sons] To John Chandler, Ranald Blanchard, et al.. Re 2 of the children of Samuel-4 (John-3, Sam-2, Thomas-1) - Martha & Nathaniel, b 1757: My theory is that both are correct & might have been twins even though Martha is listed only in the Billerica birth rec. & Nathaniel is listed only in the baptism records [and as the son of Samuel & Mary]. The non-duplication of these 2 in Billerica might be ascribed to clerical error or confusion by the transcribers of the original sources. My theory is based on "MA Soldiers & Sailors in the Rev..." and on the Rev. War Pension Appl. W16849. Nathaniel served in various Billerica militia units from 1775-1777 & in May 1777, as a res of Billerica, he enl. for 3 years with the Continental Army. He was "ae 62" in Sep 1820 [b c1758] which "fits" the bapt. of Samuel's son. Also no other Nath. of this age is found in Billerica sources. He was stationed near Woodbury. CT when he marr. Eunice Root in 1779 & is recorded there in 1790, 1800 census' after which they moved to NY. Records for this family are in Tompkins & Tioga Co's, NY. Nine of a possible 11 children are identified. ******************* To caaron@MNSi.net ["Carole Schauber"], J. Chandler & others Re Amos Blanchard, of Andover, MA; teacher: --Amos [1766, Andover--d 1842, Lynn]; son of Daniel & Jerusha (Eaton) Blanchard; m Lavina Hopkins; 12 children known, b MA & NH; musician; teacher in Andover & Lynn, MA as well as NH. --Amos [b 1773] had siblings Joshua through Lydia [as given by J. Chandler]; however this Amos [who m Eliz. Jenkins] was born in Wilton, NH; d 1847, Andover, MA; was a bank cashier in Andover, MA [not a teacher]. --Amos [b 1798, Hartford, NY or Elizabethtown, CND], son of John S. & Abigail (Wait) Blanchard; supposedly never married; and supposedly it was his home in Andover, MA which was later used by the Andover Hist. Soc. [according to McChesney's "A Hugenot Family in America" which has many errata!!] ***************** --the Aaron [b 1766] & John [b 1772] who went to Greenbush, Leeds Co., ONT seem to be sons of Aaron & Eleanor (Holt) Blanchard. Would like to know more about Aaron [b 1766]. He may have married a Mabel ____[per a corresp.]; have an unknown Aaron who filed a marr. intention 1820 Salem, MA to Elizabeth Short. ****************** To medaily@idir.net ["Mary E. Daily"], J. Chandler, et al Re Abbot siblings who married Gen. 4 Blanchard siblings: --Sarah (Abbot) Blanchard [c1702-1757], wife of Joseph --Joseph Abbot, husband of Deborah Blanchard, was b "2 Feb 1705" [per Abbot's Geneal. Reg. of ... Abbot, 1897]. Perhaps he was b 22 Jan 1704/05 [as suggested by J. Chandler] & was baptized on "2 Feb 1705"... End of Part I Please forgive my typos if you see them.
