    3. RootsWeb reports that they have had several problems that may have led to some lost Mail List messages. If copies of messages you posted to BLANCHARD-L in the past several days, have not arrived in your mailbox, please send them again. And BTW, if you forgot to include Index-Lines, please take a few minutes and do it now. Fletch. P.S. As you probably already know, I am not a big fan of "Tag Lines" that many listowners have attached automatically at the end of each message that is distributed to their List members. I look at this, in many cases, as unnecessary waste of our Internet and forest resources <G> and prefer to encourage list members to keep a copy of the List procedures and ground rules in a folder or on their cork board, for reference. I may have to change my thinking and ask RootsWeb to add an "Index-Line Reminder Tag" to each and every message you receive from BLANCHARD-L <another G>. If and when B-L has a Web Page, this will be a great place to post these kinds of things - more about this, soon. F.

    1. Re: BLANCHARD- in Vermont
    2. Hi, I sure would like to contact someone who has info on the Barre, VT, BLANCHARDS, and/or can poke around the archives in Montpelier for me. I will be making a trip up there and would like some suggestions on contacts and/or fertile repositories of genealogical info on the BLANCHARDS. Maybe someone on the list has done some checking already, or has kin from up there. I'd like to communicate. I was fortunate to make contact, through the internet, with a distant, heretofore unknown BLANCHARD cousin in CA who was kind enough to send me actual photographs of the following people (I will be happy to send copies to any other descendants): 1) AMOS BLANCHARD (son of ASA BLANCHARD and LYDIA NICHOLS). AMOS was b. 25 Oct 1791 in MA , and d.1836 in Barre, VT. 2) Amos' wife: DOLLY PETTINGILL b.1794, d. 1870 3) JOSHUA PETTINGILL BLANCHARD (son of Amos and Dolly) b. 1920 in Montpelier, VT; d.1884 in Oregon City, (He and wife went over the Oregon Trail in 1851) 4) Joshua's wife :REBECCA JANE RACE b.1828 Coshocton, Washington Co. OH , d.1921 in Oregon City. I addition to these four above, there are photos of the siblings of Joshua. I really would like to share these with other descendants...it's not everyone who has photos of ancestors who were born in the 1700's! Albert

    3. Hello, all- I recently contacted the County Historian of Clinton County, New York, a Mrs. Addie Shields and engaged her help in researching my great-great-grandfather, George Blanchard born c. 1824 in Clinton County. She sent me some rather interesting information. Although I doubt that any of the information I received pertains to my Blanchards perhaps some of it may be useful to someone else so I contribute it to the list. Please note that I received this material with misspellings, inconsistent spellings, etc. and I have preserved these here. 3. If you are tired of receiving virus alert, do not think this one is like all others.... it is worth reading.... I personally guarantee it:) Since I consider that this is the most important virus alert I ever got, I thought I would share the KNOWLEDGE it imparts.... If you receive an e-mail message with "End-All Virus" in the Subject line, don't open it. If you do: End-All will re-write your hard drive. Not only that, it will scramble any disks that are even close to your computer. It will recalibrate your refrigerator's coolness setting so all your ice cream goes melty. It will demagnetize the strips on all your credit cards, screw up the tracking on your television and use subspace field harmonics to scratch any CDs you try to play. It will give your ex-girlfriends your new phone number. It will mix Kool-aid into your fishtank. It will leave dirty socks on the coffee table when company comes over. It will hide your car keys when you are late for work. It moves your car randomly around parking lots so you can't find it. It will kick your dog. It is insidious and subtle. It is dangerous and terrifying to behold. It is also a rather interesting shade of mauve. End-All will give you Dutch Elm disease. It will leave the toilet seat up. And it will leave bacon cooking on the stove while it goes out to chase grade-schoolers with your new snowblower. Hope you don't mind, Martha
