I am a new subscriber and would like help finding information on my greatgrandfather. Manly Tillit Blanchard was born in April of 1812. Birth locations have been given as Ky,NC and Va. I know he was married in 1832 to Elizibeth Hill in Christian Co. Ky. They lived in Ky and Il. before going to Ia. in 1839. I have been told he was related to Willis Blanchard and Jacob Blanchard, which may or may not be correct. Any information would be appreciated. Jim Blanchard

Can anyone help me find the burial place of Uncle Alexander LANDRY who died at age 32 in WWI? Alexander LANDRY was born 22 Oct 1886 in Caraquet, New Brunswick, Canada. Private Alexander LANDRY died with honor around 19 Oct 1918. He was with the American Army Corp. Company B, 309th Infantry Division 78. I have a picture showing his cross, in a cemetary, with the name, Alexander LANDRY, U.S.A. At the base of the cross is a number 930036. I also have the following three notes from Washington, which were sent to his sister, Miss Mary M. LANDRY, in Caraquet. A hand written note, dated June 11th 1919 by HARRIS, the Adj. General read as follows; Deeply regret to inform you that Private Alexander LANDRY infantry is officially reported as wounded and missing in action since October Twentieth. A note, dated June 12th. 1919, by P.C. HARRIS confirming that a cable received from the Commanding General American Expeditinary Forces, reads as folows: Private Alexander LANDRY, Company B. 309th Infantry now reported wounded in action October 20, 1918 and missing; no further information, investigation made to determine fate or whereabouts. A note, dated July 10, 1919, by HARRIS the Adj General reads, Private Alexander LANDY - Infantry previously reported wounded and missing in action since October Twentieth now reported died; date and cause of death to be determined. Thank you in advance for any help possible, Martha
JFB Jr mentioned his Blanchard lines and evidently assumed that we would all know who was meant by Thomas-1. I certainly did, but, in fairness to those on the list who are *not* descendants of immigrant Thomas Blanchard of Charlestown, Mass., it would have been good to be a little more explicit about time and/or place. He asked about the 1st and 3rd wives of Thomas. Everything known to me about them is in the on-line file on the lines of Thomas & Joseph, accessible through the Blanchard-L Web site. There is a very strong chance that there is no surviving record of his first marriage, since it would have taken place in the midst of a gap in the records at Goodworth Clatford. Of course, the marriage could have taken place in another parish, but many of the parishes in that area have no records at all from that period. Similarly, the third marriage is probably not provable by direct documentation. John
I believe our List had one or two members using webtv but a check of the current subscribers does not show anyone. As I hear it, the people at webtv have temporarily blocked messages from RootsWeb, thinking that somehow, because of the volume of their traffic, they are involved in "spamming". Brian Leverich at RootsWeb is attempting to resolve the problem so you might pass this information along to any former B-L members you know who are using the webtv services. Thanks. Fletch
Hello: I am a double Blanchard. My father was John Flint Blanchard (Thomas-1, Samuel-2, Samuel-3, Samuel-4, Caleb-5, Amos-6, Flint-7, Charles-8). My mother was Jane Caroline Blanchard (Thomas-1, Samuel-2, John-3, Samuel-4, Jonathan-5, Jonathan-6, Charles-7). I have the vital statistics for all spouses and siblings which I will be glad to share. The only exception to the above statement concerns the spouses of Thomas-1. Does anyone have documentation for spouses one and three. I have name and statistics of number 2. My main iterest at this time is to gather information concerning the setting; local, national, economic, religious in which each of these generations lived. Any diaries or anecdotes of the first four generations would be especially welcomed. I look forward to exchanging information. John Flint Blanchard, Jr

I joined Rootsweb and the BLANCHARD list last summer hoping to solve my BLANCHARD problem. I've been unable to find any connections in current or archived files, however, so I'm going to take the plunge. My 4 Gr Grandfather was Seth BLANCHARD, born ab 1778 in Massachusetts, married in Brookfield, MA, ca 3 Apr 1804, Lydia RICE, born 2 Feb 1778 in Sturbridge,MA. They were in Pompey, Onondaga Co., NY in 1810, and moved to Harmony, Chautauqua Co., NY by 1820. She died there Oct 1831. He died at Harmony in 1853. My 3 gr Grandmother was Seth and Lydia's daughter, Lorinda b. 1812, who married Myron BLY. I believe they had sons Caleb, William, and Charles. There may have been other children also. Any clues as to where Seth BLANCHARD came from in MA and who his parents were would be greatly appreciated. Do I have any cousins out there? Hoping to hear from you. Hello! I just subscribed to this mail list and wondered if anyone has any information on this Blanchard line. Bertram Blanchard (b late 1800s) married Ida Barrau (around 1900). They were from Switzerland. They had a daughter, Ida Blanchard, who married Leonard Turner Smith on 12 Aug 1925 in Syracuse NY. Anyone who knows of this family please email me! Thanks! Hello folks, I just returned from an unexpected trip to my hometown of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin to attend a family funeral. Before returning home, I dediced to stay for a few additional days to do some research. While researching my Blanchar ancestors, I made written note of most all Blanchar/Blanchard events that appeared in the vital records index for Dane County. If anyone would like for me to post them, or look anything up, let me know. By the way, I found some new information regarding Horace Blanchar's wife Jennie Thompson/Tollephsen. The Director of the Vesterheim Library found the church records for the confirmation of their first born child which lists the mother as Johanne Simonsdatter which is probably her read Norwegian name. If anyone wants more info on this let me know. Jane Champion

Fletch and others; I will forward Karen Simmons' inquiry to Pat B. Curry tomorrow. Please change my email address to: <wildeman1@home.com> Tom Wilde <mailto:wildeman1@home.com>
Fletch has already mentioned that Experience Blanchard is in my database of Thomas & "Joseph" descendants on Rootsweb. Just one point to make so that you don't miss her -- the date 1748 May 3 was not her birth, but rather her marriage to Sylvanus Braman. She was actually born in 1727, and you can see her lineage back to Thomas the immigrant in the database. I have nothing on her children, though. John Chandler
Group, I'd like to thank all who contributed to the following database. I have seen the work of my great-grandfather on my mother's (Charlotte Ruth Blanchard) side, Arthur William Blanchard of North Adams MA, contained in the work. His genealogy was published in 1935. It is nice to see that the research he had done at the beginning of this century, with the old-fashioned digging through libraries, cemeteries and other vital records has been confirmed by the more modern means of today. In an interesting side note, I spent several years looking for the family of a Betsy Blanchard, who was my 5thgreat-grand mother on my father's side. (Betsy Blanchard - Lucinda Flagg - Harriet Bosworth, Lucinda Church - Mabel Nichols - Harold Hobby - James Hobby - Ward Hobby). It was a long time searching, as I only had the marriage site of Betsy Blanchard to John Flagg of Winchendon, MA, but references to New Hampshire domicle. I searched high and low in southern NH, but couldn't find her birth. Then the first Thomas/Joseph Blanchard database was released to the Blanchard-L. I searched through there to no avail. When I saw this latest release and its greater number of Blanchards, I downloaded the site, and printed off the pages (one Saturday -- all day!). Lo and behold, I found my Betsy Blanchard marrying John Flagg, only her birthplace wasn't in southern NH, but in Ashby, MA!!!! I never looked there before this. It has been really exciting looking at the earlier marriages. I now tell me dad, that he too is related to mom, not just by marriage, but they are 8th or 9th cousins! I really appreciate all the research done by the contributers to the database. It has really firmed up this loose end. A reminder to some of the newer List members: Pat Blanchard Curry is not online and we have been relaying information between Pat and List members by means of 'Courier' Tom Wilde <wildeman@pilot.infi.net> . Tom, please include Karen Simmons' inquiry about Experience Blanchard in your next communication with Pat. Thanks. BTW, Experience is noted in John Chandler's database of the combined descendants of Thomas and Joseph, which can be found on our new BLANCHARD-L web page at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~blanch-l/blpref.html Fletch
Pat B. Curry Do you have any information about an Experience Blanchard born May 3, 1748 in Weymouth MA? I noticed in one of your old postings, info about an Elizabeth (Perry) Blanchard. My Experience did marry an Ichabod Perry after her first husband Sylvanus Braman. I have a copy of her will from Bristol County Probate Records. Could this be the same person? I have no other information about her and would welcome anything you or any other rootsweb member could share. Karen Simmons Simmons@aol.com
Hi, I was searching some of the old Rootsweb files and found that member Daniel Blanchard at DDBlanch100@aol.com (no longer aol) has a Nathaniel in Braintree. I'm wondering if he had a sister named Experience. I really have no information about her except that she married Sylvanus Braman and later married Ichabod Perry. I do have a date, born May 3, 1748 in Weymouth,MA. Is she in your files anywhere? Who are her parents? Any other info you can share? Thanks. Karen Simmons Simmons@aol.com
Hello to all I am trying to find the birthplace of Robert Blanchard born c1780 and according to his statement on the 1851 & 1861 census, it was in Winterslow, Wiltshire, but after going through the PR's for Winterslow, I was unable to find a baptism for him. There was a family of sometimes Blanchard and sometimes Blanchette, in that time frame that Robert could have fitted into, all of whom had baptisms, but no Robert. His grandaughter Elizabeth, sometime between 1851 to 1861 moved to London, married John Ede in 1869, they then became my great greatparents. Does anyone know anything of this family?
