    1. New to the List
    2. Hello to All, Thanks for the Welcome. I have little to share of the BLANCHARD surname. But in time I know it will grow. So far I have one Gertrude Syliva? BLANCHARD b.1854 d.1938 WA. 1910 Census records states she, along with her parents were born in VT. She married Ezra CONE. She had 6 children, raising 4 to adults, Darwin, Ralph, Ethel and Glen all born in PA. Her m2. 1890-1896 to a Rudolphus BULL in Warren County, PA. (Note: R.BULL's daughter Minnie BULL married Darwin CONE.) Sometime after BULL's passing she m3. to Wallace Wilson. Not sure who traveled first to WA, but all her adult children were in WA about 1907. Not sure if husband #3 went with them. It's a guess on my part, but I think her father was Jasper BLANCHARD. I do have more dates, so If any of these names rings a bell please let me know. Thanks again for the Welcome CMartin

    3. Shelley Cardiel posted the note about Joshua, the subject of an item on a "Past Connections" Web page. I took a brief look and this is the Joshua in Pat Blanchard Curry's database for "Joseph" and Anne. I seem to recall that at least one of our list members is descended from Joshua and you might be interested in the photos and documents that are available for 'postage' only. If you have not visited "Past Connections", you might find it interesting and maybe even valuable for your reasearch. 1. Elizabeth [Katherine] Blanchard, born ca 1695
    2. Dick Wells
    3. I am descended from Edward Wesson and Mary Johnson of Surry Co., VA. Edward Wesson's father was William Weston who died before 20 Dec 1727 in Surry County, VA. One source shows that William Weston's wife was Elizabeth ___, and another source says that she was Elizabeth Blanchard. The LDS Ancestry files show a William Weston who married Katherine Blanchard, daughter of Benjamin Blanchard and Catherine ___. I would appreciate help in: o confirming that William Weston's wife's surname was Blanchard. o determing whether his wife's Christian name was Elizabeth or Katherine. o determining his wife's ancestry if she was a Blanchard. Thanks for any assistance. Dick Wells

    3. Obituary in the newspaper 'Mail-Star' (Halifax, N.S.) - Tuesday, February 2, 1999 BRUCE-PAYNE, Eleanor Gertrude BRUCE-PAYNE, Eleanor Gertrude - 98, Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home, Windsor, died January 31, 1999, in the home. Born December 2, 1900, in Baddeck, she was a daughter of the late Percey and Julia (Calkin) Blanchard. She was a former resident of Ellershouse and Brooklyn, Hants Co., and Wolfville, Kings Co. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are sons, Hugh, Guelph, Ontario; Lionel, North Bay, Ont.; Barry, Newport, Hants Co.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Richard Bruce-Payne; brothers, Ben, Henry, Sherburne; sister, Mary Fisher. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 3 p.m. Wednesday, both in Lohnes-Beazley Funeral Home and chapel, 419 Albert St., Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating, assisted by Linda Marryatt. Burial in Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse, Hants Co. Family flowers only. Donations to IWK Grace Foundation, the Flower Cart in Kings County or any charity. --------------------- Eleanor was helpful with her 'encouraging' saying 'Oh, you can do it.' The above 'Percey' was Henry Percy Blanchard, also known as H. Percy Sherburne, in the above, was my grandfather. Henry died in Nova Scotia. Mary died in New Zealand. We still have not found a date of death or the resting place of Ben, who having been badly injured in WWI, left home shortly after his return. The services at the burial site were rather short due to the weather, rain and wind. There was a 'get together' back at the funeral home after this. While there, I was reminded of a message, posted quite some time ago, in which someone was told that "they looked like a Blanchard" and did not question as to what a Blanchard is supposed to look like. As I was leaving, I met an older man who said he did not know many on the Blanchard side, "but once they were all in one room, it was not hard to pick them out". I admit some of us do may bear resemblance, but not all of us. With our 2nd snow of the winter, -- Rannie in N.S.

    2. Richard Blanchard
    3. hi Its been a while since I asked but I'm still looking for any descendents of my great-uncle Richard Blanchard who was born in Grey county in Upper Canada/Ontario about 1860. He left Canada in his 30's to go to Australia and later ended up living in Berkeley California around 1920. He had one son, named William. Its been about two years since I asked for info on this missing branch and there have been some new members on the list. Drop me a line if it sounds familiar. 3. Received the following message from Nancy last December and she has requested that I post it to this list. I believe that Nancy will be subscribing to the list soon. "Greetings - I am looking for information on my great grandmother's sister, Mary C. (Haas) Blanchard, whom, I have been told, was born October 1851 in New York, married Henry Blanchard (possibly December 3, 1871 in Greenville, Outagamie County, Wisconsin), and died in Menasha, Winnebago County, Wisconsin in 1923. I have not been able to confirm the above dates, yet. I understand that Henry and Mary had six children. I would appreciate hearing whether Henry or Mary are some of the Blanchards you are researching. Nancy Cheesbrough LeeChees@msn.com Libertyville, IL"

    1. Blanchard Family Request and Information
    2. Jeffrey Murray
    3. Hello all, I am looking for the family of Elinor McChesney who wrote a book called "The Blanchard Family". The book was written around 1976 and she was located in Oceanside, California. If anyone has any information about her or how to reach her or her family to exchange information about the Blanchard family, I would be most appreciative. Some information about me and my search so far... I am a genealogist who has been researching the Blanchard family for about 10 years. My search ranges from Jean Pierre Blanchard in Cape of Hague, Normandy, France in 1555 through Nathaniel Blanchard who married Anna Green in Weymouth, Massachusetts on November 28, 1782. I'd welcome an exchange of research on the Blanchard family. 3. > Lemuel Blanchard (1750-1811) is memorialized on his gravestone in > Whitingham, VT as a Revolutionary War soldier. The book on Massachusetts Soldiers & Sailors in the Revolution shows two different Lemuels who both responded to the alarm of Apr 19 and both lived in Stoughton, one for 2 days and one for 5 days. The first was in Peter Talbot's company, and the 2nd in William Briggs'. It could be either one of them. There are only two other items relating to Lemuels: a 3rd responder on Apr 19 (from Bedford), and a Lemuel from an unspecified place who served for a month in 1779 at New London. John
