Jan 22, 1879, Maryborough, ON Buried: Ebenezer United Church Cemetery, East Luther Twp., Dufferin Co., ON +Married: Arlina ‘Rianey’ Bates d/o of John Bates b. ONTARIO (possibly Harriston area) Richard had land transactions with John Bates in 1848. Children: 2. Arlina ‘Rianey’ Armstrong b. January 12, 1843 in Albion Twp., Peel Co., ON m. January 12, 1870 in Port Perry, Ontario (Home) Co., ON d. Aug 30, 1919 at son, Peter’s, farm Buried: first woman buried in Kincaid Cemetery, Kincaid, SK 3. William Armstrong b. 1837 in ON m. Dec 11, 1862 to Elizabeth McCracken of Garafraxa Twp. in Presbyterian Church, Wellington Co., ON. (I wonder if it could be the Knox Presbyterian Church in Grand Valley where Nellie Dillen McIntosh’s children were baptized?) Isaiah Armstrong b. c1866, ON – age 5 on 1871 Census iii. Charles Armstrong b. c 1868, ON – age 3 on 1871 Census iv. Jacob Edward Armstrong b. January 1871, Garafraxa East, Dufferin Co., ON. Married March 3, 1898 in the Know Presbyterian Church, Grand Valley, ON to SARAH JANE GILCHIRST b. January 1877, East Garafraxa, ON the daughter of William E. Gilchrist and Nancy Graham; brother of Samuel Duncan Gilchrist who married Jamima Dillen. v. Margaret Ellen Armstrong, b. 1874, ON; age 7 on 1881 Census vi. Clarendy Armstrong, b. 1877, ON, age 4 on 1881 Census 4. THIS is where my research becomes uncertain: Jack – mentioned in Nellie’s letters. Thomas – m. Mary ?. on 1881 Census, Maryborough Twp., N. Wellington Co., ON; also on 1871 Census in Peel, North Wellington Co., ON with wife Mary, and children Sirus and Milise. I’ve other Census and birth info on these but no marriage info for Thomas and Mary showing their parentage. Charles – following a lead from Gertrude Gilchrist Saunders: b. about 1820, a resident in 1859 of Arthur, ON; d. Sep 4, 1873 m. about 1840 to Ruth ?. I have descendancy info on this fellow to but need his parentage confirmed. They adopted Alexander Samuel William in March 1857 and he was baptized in Oct 18, 1859 in Arthur, ON. They also had a daughter, Susan Isabella on Sep 7, 1859 who was baptized in Arthur, ON Robert b. June 8, 1863 m. Isabelle ? who was b. Aug 6, 1864. I have only 1901 Census but am looking for more detail and parentage Richard – b. Aug 16, 1868 was living in Fergus in 1931 and died August 1934 in Grand Valley On per Nellie’s letters. Jemima ?? (Armstrong, I hope??) – b. Feb 20, 1864 married a William Henry Blair and living in Arthur Twp on 1901 Census. William Henry Blair was born Feb 3, 1858 per the 1901 Census. Their children were: Mary E. born Jun 3, 1887 and William J. C. born Jun 19, 1900.
