Blair, 88, of Norway, ME, died Thursday, (November 27, 2003) at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center. He was born in Gardiner on April 19, 1915 the son of Herbert L. and Julia Hurley Blair. He was a graduate of Gardiner High School and attended one year at Kennebec Business School. He was a furniture expediter at G. Fox and Co. Dept. Store in Hartford, Conn., a traffic clerk and permittee for P. Ballentine and Sons Brewery in Hartford, Conn. and Waterford, Conn., and timekeeper for Bechtel Construction Company at Millstone Power project in Waterford. He retired in 1983 from the United States Coast Guard Academy, New London as a civilian security guard. He married Eleanor C. Clark in Gardiner on April 14, 1941. He was a member of the Thames Stamp Club of New London, Conn. serving as vice president for eight years, a charter member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Niantic, transferring to Council 5515 where he had been the recorder. He was Chairpe! rson of the Commission on Aging and President and trip coordinator for the East Lyme Seniors in East Lyme. He was a member of the American Legion Post 82 in Norway, the V. F. W. Post 9787 in South Paris and AARP. He is survived by his wife of Norway; two daughters, Diane B. Doran and Theresa B. Wynne both of Richland, North Carolina; a brother, George of Cape Elizabeth; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway. Interment will immediately follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Augusta.
