Carol, I can't help you with your Julia Ann Paxton, but can provide some information about the grandparents of General Sam Houston. I am active in the Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT) and of course have studied Gen. Sam Houston. In fact, his son was the first President General of the SRT. As you mentioned, Elizabeth Paxton was the mother of Gen. Sam, and her parents were Captain John Paxton, who died February 13, 1787 in Lexington, Augusta County, Virginia, and his wife Martha Blair, born 1721 in Ireland, and died August 12, 1821 in Virginia. BLAIR is one of my lines, and the family of Martha Blair Paxton can be traced back to Daniel Blair and his wife Janet Drummond in Ireland. I hope this will help you in some way, and please provide any details about your Paxton line that might help with the HOUSTON family research.
