Will of James Blair, written 1844...approved 1848, Newberry CO....mentions BROTHER Geo Blair, 2 slaves,plantation.... neice Sarah Ann Blair, dau of my brother George Blair...plantation to go to her upon death of George as well as Rail road stock and interest and interest in my plantation of my sister Mary's estate as heir from mother's estate. Apparently never married and had no children. George and daughter Sarah Ann listed in the 1850 Newberry census as well as the 1860 one with his second wife Rachel. John Blair WILL....July 14, 1843....approved July 27, 1848...wife Sibbey and 4 children....James Patrick Blair, Thomas Strait Blair, Rebecca Jane Blair and Martha Caroline...think she was called Mattie C....Geo Blair exc...Mattie C, born 1842, Nov 13, Died May 24, 1911...married David Werts and buried New Chapel Meth Church Cem Newberry. Listed as dau of John and Sibbey in Werts fam research. John's middle name Sidney?. Listed in the 1850 census (after death) either as an error in writing Sibbey or she gave her husband's name since it states m"male"1807, SC....children J.P. 15, Thomas S 13, Rebecca 11 and Martha 7. Also noted a William Blair in Barbour CO AL,born 1805, SC, that had a son named Sidney Blair, 8 yo, along with a Thomas 16, Wesley 14, Wm 10, John H 4 and Derrel 3....don't know if connected but Sidney not a common name. Found this researching Blair's in SC while looking for those in Union Co...DNA results suggest a connection with the Newberry Blairs but not sourced at this time.
