My sister and I did an in depth research project on this subject as we had him as born in NH and married to a Molly Barnett in VT in 1787. The results of this research were published in the Blair Family Magazine in the Spring of 2012. Some of the errors in this info may be due to the Bio on this person in the book "The Commander in Chief's Guards" by Carlos Godfrey ,pub in 1904 where he said he was a James Blair of Mill Village,Erie,PA. The Rev War James Blair died in Erie,PA in 1848(obit) where the Mill Village James Blair died in 1842 as shown in his recorded will. James Blair is shown in his pension papers (about 80 images)as leaving VT after having a large family to move to OH but arrived in Waterford PA in Jan 1816 where he had to stay for some time before going to OH. It was in Waterford where Wendell Miller and Elizabeth Blair were married. Our ancesto! r Esther Blair had already married Gideon Ormsby in VT before the family moved to PA and then OH. The Erie Co,PA Sons of the Rev has a Bio that is made up of info of 3 different James Blairs that lived in the Erie area about the same time. Please note that the Military history pretty much matches the info in the muster records and the Pension Records ,it is the personal bio identifying the wrong person that is in error.If anyone wants more info please contact me.
