Many of the early 1760's boat listings show these people that arrived petitioning for this land. There were three areas set aside for them in South Carolina....all west of the 96 District but at that time in Granville Dist(referred to in old deeds and plats and one of the first divisions of SC)....now located in the county of McCormick that came out of Abbeville and Edgefield. They were called Belfast, also referred to as Londonborough,(22000 acres) Boonesborough,(28000 acres) and Hillsborough. Hillsborough....near Long Canes where enters Little River and contains the town of New Bordeaux (From the French influence) Belfast...lying on both sides of Hard Labor Creek above it's junction with Cuffeetown (Coffeetown)Creek....also went by the name of Belfast Twnship. This was just a jump across the River to GA. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
