ROMAN Jan. 28, 1927 to Dec. 6, 2003 Born in Prague, Roman left the Czech Republic in 1948 and resided in Paris and, later, London. He came to the United States in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army ' s 525th Military Intelligence Service Group at Fort Bragg, NC from 1952-54, and later received his Engineering Degree in Cincinnati. Roman enjoyed a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer and an Engineering Supervisor and lived with his family in New York City, Cincinnati, Denver, Cocoa Beach, Fla. and Cleveland. In 1966, he moved to La Jolla and began working at Gulf General Atomic, retiring in 1985. The last few years of his retirement were spent in Lake San Marcos. Roman was an avid reader and enthusiastic traveler. He had a deep interest in world affairs and nature and he enjoyed classical music, particularly opera. His favorite pastime, however, was puttering around the house and yard. And he loved to dance. Roman is survived by his beloved Beverly of Lake San M! arcos; and by his son, Terrence, and daughter, Janine, both of San Diego. A Memorial service will be held at Mary, Star of the Sea, La Jolla, on Wednesday, December 17, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Alzheimer ' s Association. Services with Full Military Honors and Inurnment will be Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at a later date.
