    1. Help needed with Andrew Jackson "A.J" Blair
    2. faith day
    3. Hello all! I need any help with trying to find the parents of Andrew Jackson "A.J." Blair. On documents that I have(marriage & census records) he mostly went by Jackson or A.J. Blair but his parents were never listed. I know that A.J. was born abt Sept 1852 in VA. He died Feb 1943 and is buried in the Ice Collier Cemetery in Letcher Co KY. He married Manerva Day on 28 July 1874 in Letcher Co KY. AJ & Manerva lived in both Letcher Co KY & Wise Co VA I've searched census records and I've found various records from 1880 and up fairly easy. It's once I start looking for past records for clues to his parents that I get LOST! Here's a quick look at what I've found for 1860 & 1870. I hope it's not to confusing I just want to know if I'm even looking in the right place??? I've only found 2 records for the 1870 census that could be AJ. 1st record: 1870 Ft Chiswell, Wythe VA Andrew AJ Blair age 21 head of house: Gardan Blair age 33 born in VA 2nd record: 1870 Letcher Co KY Jackson Blair age 18 born in KY parents: Charles age 65 born in VA & Sarah age 64 born in VA I tried to follow the Charles & Sarah Blair line back mostly because of the matching birth year for Jackson & AJ and because of Letcher Co. I found a 1860 census record for Wise Co VA that lists: Charles Blair age 53 born in VA Sarah age 53 born in VA Sarah age 18 born in KY Charles age 16 born in KY Jemima age 10 born in KY Jackson Collier age 7 born in KY So here's where I have questions: 1. Are the 1860 Wise Co Charles & Sarah Blair the same as the 1870 Letcher Co Charles & Sarah Blair? I know the ages don't match but I've always heard that dates can be off by a bit here and there. 2. I know that Charles Blair & Sarah Creech had children with names that matched the 1860 Wise Co Census but I've never seen them listed as having a child named Jackson in any other genealogy records. I know that they had a daughter Susanah Blair that married a John B. Collier, so could Jackson Collier be their child? I have no idea if the Jackson Collier/Blair listed with Charles & Sarah is my Jackson Blair but it's the only info I come across so I'm trying to figure it out. Can anyone think of any other ways for me to find clues about AJ's parents? I'd really appreciate any help and I hope this wasn't a super confusing message, if it was I apologize. 3. Faith, it looks to me like it is the same family. It matches closer than a lot I have seen and knew that matched. It looks like Jackson could have been a child born late in life so may not have been listed. I have a lot of material on this family but did not find Jackson mentioned. I think 1-2 of this family has been dna tested so if you have a male Blair from this family, you might want to have a dna test run to see if there is a match. You can get there through www.familytreedna.com, then type in Blairs and follow the links. This Blair bunch did not match my Blairs although they were in the same area at times. Good Luck.
