Hi Margaret, I am sure you know all this, but wanted to post it in case some one else might be able to connect to our line. As Margaret Webb stated in her article, Hugh Blair was the son of William and Sarah Simmons Blair. This William Blair was the son of John "The Miller" Blair and his wife Jean Gamble, and John "The Miller" Blair is believed to have been the son of Hugh Blair who married Mary Dawson. SOME researchers believe that this Hugh Blair was the older brother of Major Thomas Blair, born 1738 in Northern Ireland. This is my ancestor, and he married Jane Ruth in North Carolina about 1763, after our ancestors had moved from Rising Sun, Pennsylvania to the portion of old Rowan County, North Carolina that became Guilford County, NC. The father of my Major Thomas Blair was a James Blair, but that is about all we know about him. One item is that he purchased land from Robert McQuistion in North Carolina, and his son, Major Thomas Blair's wife had been previously married to a Ro! bert McQuistion, probably a nephew of the Robert McQuistion his father purchased the land from.
