His parents appear to be Thomas Chapman and Hannah Hatch. He and his parents are buried near each other in Dresden Maine. He is my gr-gr-great grandfather. I am also having a difficult time finding concrete proof of birth. But our family does have a civil war letter to him from his son and we know where the headstones are at the old cemetary.
