Some say he was from Ireland & m. a Mollie Chaffee but we bekieve he was the James Blair of Londonderry,NH who m. Molly Barnet(Barnett)' Our grgrgrgrandmother was Esther Blair one of his daughters who m. Gideon Ormsby. James Blair served with Samuel Barnett & after the war m Molly & moved to Jericho & then Bolton.VT. Their first children were born there. They eventually moved ti Geauga,OH along with Gideon ,Alexander Sr & Alexander Jr. Blair. We also find a Smith Blair there. James pensions were in Oh & finally to Erie,PA when as his papers said"His family moved West". That cooresponds to the time when the Ormsby family moved to Dane,Co. WI. My sister & I have so far been unable to find anything on the Irish James Blair & wife Mollie Chaffee. If anybody has anything on them we would appreciate it as we would like to know for certain which is which. Please note that those who have the Irish James Blair as their ancesto! r for the DAR you should not lose thatif it is out NH James Blair as most use Elizabeth Blair who married Wendell Miller as the tie in. Our family & the Miller family all lived at the same time in Oxford, WI so there is still a desc line regaqrdless of which James it is.
