I am looking for information on the marriage of Alexander Blair (born about 1819) and Margaret (?) probably in Pennsylvania. I have them on the census for the first time in 1850 in North Slippery Rock, Lawrence , Pennsylvania: Alexr Blair 30 Margaret Blair 21 Catharine Blair 2 Sarah Blair 4m I don't have parents for Alexander or a birth or death date. I last have him on the census in 1880 in Franklin County, Kansas. Margaret died 28 Nov 1879 in Franklin County, Kansas. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Kisha Help Find Rachel Cooke: http://www.rachelcookesearch.org

She is my ggg-mother, b. abt 1803, possibly in Scotland. In 1831 she was married by Rev. Gemmill to John MILLER. They moved to Rawdon Ontario (near Campbellford, district Hastings) where they farmed and raised 7 sons, all born at Rawdon. The family was in the area until at least 1871 when John died and Margaret was living with her son Robert MILLER. Subsequent to Margaret's death Robert and other brother(s) settled at Rainy River Ont (late 1890's). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The information we have after looking in New Jersey for birth records as well as Mass. is that he was indeed from Lowell, Mass. However, Daniel was elusive and because of the nature of his parting with his family, it would not be surprising he would use NJ. He was not old enough when he entered Oregon to receive a land claim, but the records indicate he said he was 21 at the time his grant was awarded. There are some Roberson's (or Robertson's) living in this area. I believe that some are heirs to the Davis Plantation at Monticello, SC, which is about 10 miles south of Blair. There is still a lot of information out there which is not on line. I'll look for the Roberson name next time I am SC archives in Columbia. I found mention of a James Blair in Newberry Co. so, since it's right across the river from Fairfield Co., I thought it might be worth checking out. I haven't learned anything on my Blair family in quite a while. Also been trying to find something on James B. Blair's wife, Isabella. Her last name might be Roberson. On the 1880 Chickasaw Co., MS census, Isabella has died and her sister, Julanna Roberson (single)is listed as living with James Blair. I've found there are some Roberson's in the nearby county who are from SC, but know nothing about them. I found the name on the marriage bond for James B.'s son George Blair--the county clerk or something. I have always wondered why George and Minnie went to a different county to marry--other than her parents not liking him. He had first married Minnie's half/step-sister and she died shortly thereafter. Hope you are doing well. Dianne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
