Portsmouth Times, Portsmouth, Ohio Saturday, July 9, 1949 Mrs. Carolyn Susan Blair Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Susan Blair, 79, of 1719 Waller St. will be held at Melcher Funeral Home, Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. V. R. Hefner in charge. Mrs. Blair passed away at 9:35 a.m. Friday in Mercy Hospital. Death was attributed to complications resulting from a fractured hip which Mrs. Blair suffered two weeks ago. Among the survivors are a daughter, Genevieve Blair at home; a foster son, William Berkey of Long Beach, Calif. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. I am very interested in Thomas Blair, and his TN connection. My Thomas Blair was married to Jean Unknown, and lived first in TN and then in Cape Girardeau MO. They were connected with Garretts and another family in TN. I am interested in finding his father. John Blair married Mary and had two boys, Will and ?, one of whom got their Irish cousin in the family way, the other became a priest (we know one son became a priest, we just hope it wasn't the one who got his cousin pregnant). John and Mary moved to Philadelphia, PA before 1863, we don't know when. Nancy married Alexander Barry and moved to Philadelphia in 1863 to be with her brother. Alex died a year after they moved. Nancy and Alex had at least 6 children, Alex (b. 1838), Thomas, Margaret, Rachel, Robert (b. 1847), and James. I am a descendant of Robert. If this rings any bells out there, I do have more info going down the line, but not going up.
