Theda Joyce DARBY was born in Bexar County Texas, December 24, 1916. I am looking for information on her husband or children. Her death record states married name BLAIR, but is listed as widowed. Supposedly Theda had three children, and I believe they were born in Texas. I don't know if children were Blair surnames as Blair may have been later marriage for Theda. A granddaughter of Theda's, Beth Fisher, replied to a message i'd written in 2008, but i am unable to locate Beth now. I did not see the reply she had sent me until just recently. Unfortunately i've had no reply yet to the response i'd sent to her email of 2008. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have the Bernard Doonan family in 1841 from rootsireland but haven't seen the McGee family before. Maybe I did an exact search for Magee and didn't include other spellings. I have an old map (1836) that shows lands owned by the Earl of Gosford, another relative researching the family kindly sent me it. It shows a large area farmed (tenants) by Bernard Doonan and William Magee but I didn't know if it was Eliza's father or brother, looks like the brother then - that's brilliant - where did you find the records? Thank you, Andea I just had a look at the map and no Blairs - any other names you want checked? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We think that Eliza's father was William Magee, also a farmer, and that Bernard took over some of his land, I'll send you more details in an email. I don't know where Alice Blair came from, as yet I haven't been able to find a marriage record. My grandfather married in 1924 and he was a few years older than Willie, so I assume that he and Alice married in the later 1920s or early 30s. I haven't been able to find anything online. I'll email now. Andrea Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I also found Emily (probably Emelia) Doonan living at 65 Kimberly Street, Belfast with Margaret Jane in 1912 - check the Ulster Covenant signing. Arabella Wheatley also signed in Lacken/y which one of the townlands of Killyshandra. I have a Eliza Magee born in Cavan in 1801 and marrying Bernard Doonan in 1822; also Bernard Doonan born Cavan 1793 (all LDS which give no other details). Can we assume these are our ancestors? Do you know where Alice Blair came from? My email address is rafhunter@hotmail.com This is getting exciting! My grandfather was called John Coulson Doonan, should this ring any bells with your Aunt. His father was Albert Doonan (Jeweler and watchmaker). I was born in Belfast in 1964, mostly grew up in England. My grandfathers sister, Ethel, married a Fred Brown. I'm going out this evening but if you send me your email address I'll forward some information. I have an Aunt who lives in Belfast in her eighties now but I'm sure she'd be delighted to know there is someone of her generation around. Oh! and I have a photo of Billy Wheatley - all ties together! Speak later, Andrea Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had found Bernard Doonan some time ago but was not able to link him directly to William and Elizabeth. It seems certain that we are distant cousins, if several times removed! I have to admit to being a bit of an amateur in the geneology area and have, perhaps, not pursued some of the leads thoroughly enough. I would be very pleased if you could send me a copy of the record if it would not be too inconvenient. My grandfather ie Margaret Jane Doonan's son, has one remaining daughter in her eighties (my aunt) still alive and she has a great interest in anything to do with family history so she will be delighted with this extra information. Margaret Jane had cousins in Cavan/Fermanagh/Roscommon. I think they were called Brown or Wheatley or both - does this ring any bells? I am living in Carrickfergus about 10 miles along the lough from Belfast. Have been to Durham twice when caravanning in that area a few years ago - lovely city. Patrick's wife (and therefore William,s mother) was called Margaret, and Bernard (Elizabeth's father) had a daughter called Margaret Jane. I have other children for William and Elizabeth: Emelia; Elizabeth; Mary and Adelaide. Any of this familiar to you? I always knew there must be more children around as they married in 1855 but the first birth I could find was Emelia in 1864. I think we share the same ggggrandfather in Bernard Doonan. Hope this sounds right to you. Take care, Andrea Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a copy of the actual marriage record of William Doonan and Elizabeth Doonan 06/12/1855, Elizabeth's father was Bernard Doonan (my ggggrandfather) and William's father was Patrick Doonan (Bernard's brother), so William and Elizabeth were first cousins. Bernard and Patrick had other children who married each other, they were farmers and obviously wanted to keep the family interests tied. The record is too big for me to scan but I could scan it in two halves and send it to you if you like. I really can't help but feel there is a link here though. The Doonan name originated in Fermanagh, there was and is the highest concentration of the name there, can't help but think our Cavan Doonan's have to be linked. My Tree is a public tree, Doonan and Coulson Tree. I live in Durham City, England, where are you? Take care, Andrea Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My great grandfather (Robert Blair) married a Margaret Jane Doonan. Her baptism record shows dob as 2/6/1859, address as Crossdoney which is near Killashandra. Her father is given as William Doonan (shoemaker) and the mother as Elizabeth. I have a record from LDS which shows a William Doonan born in 1829 marrying Elizabeth Doonan on 6/12/1855 in Killashandra - must be them. Margaret died in 1917 (she lost two sons, my grandfather's brothers) in the 1st W War. Again my research is on well records Francis Preston Blair and John Ormsby who's daughter jane married Dr Nathon Bedford in Pittsburgh. Just to completey discout this, I suggest you read about the Battle of Saratoga and a fellow named General Daniel Morgan and his Sharpshooters. My research is based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh in 1803. I find it interesting that there are so many boat builders in Pittsburgh in 1803 named Lewis and Clark to staff 20 Lewis and Clark Expeditions. I am sure it's the same with the names Blair and Ormsby. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
