Hi Robin, I descend from John Lindsay Blair, born October 22, 1767, who was the brother of a Thomas Blair who married Hanna Stone.  I have never found that their mother was Jean Gamble, but you may be correct.  The problem is the dates.  Your records show their father, John Blair was born in 1780, but this is not possible if my John Lindsay Blair was born in 1767 and was his son.  I show that the brother Thomas Blair who married Hannah Stone was born in 1764 and was also married to Sarah Carnahan in 1787, after Hannah Stone died.  Any idea of how this all fits? Here is information I have on the Blair family: Hugh Blair was born in Belfast Ireland about 1860. His future wife Sarah McDonald was born in Newton Ards, Ireland about 1861. The two met in Ireland before Hugh emigrated to Cleveland Ohio in the 1880's. Six of their seven children were born in Cleveland; Hugh Malcom in 1892, Janet Kirpatrick in 1893, Polly (my maternal grandmother) was born while her mother was visiting in Ireland, Wilger McDonald in 1896, Ardell Ingelson in 1898, Aileen Sheila in 1901, and Robert Eric in 1903. Hugh was injured at his job and the doctor told him to get away from the city. They moved to Soda Creek, a booming community in the Cariboo in 1914. They built a log house. In 1917 Malcom and Wilgar joined the army and left for France. In 1918 the Blairs moved to Vancouver. Both Malcom and Wilgar had been wounded overseas. When Malcom and Wilgar returned at the end of the war the family moved to Oregon and later California. In 1938 Sarah, Wilgar, Bob, Ardell and her children (Jerry and Janet Weldon) and BobBowles (aileen's son) returned to the Cariboo. They settled at McLeese Lake where they built a large log house. Sarah and Wilgar remained at McLeese Lake until their deaths. I remember my Mom talking about a boy 'Dickie' that Wilar took in or adopted. NC, you will find he married Hannah Smith, daughter of Richard Smith. The Thomas Blair that married Hannah Stone, daughter of Ezekiel Stone & Jane Wood is my ancestor, when Hannah had her first born she named him after her father, Ezekiel Stone Blair, my great, great Grandfather, he married Jane Henry. John Blair who married Jane Gamble was born 28 April 1749 the son of Hugh and Mary Dawson Blair who came to Pennsylvania in 1746 from Ireland. The Stone who signed the Dec. How did you find out about Etowah/Cherokee counties? I have a lot of Blair material, I was at one time one of the officers of the Blair Society. I remember hearing about a George Washington Blair. I believe he is from Alabama but in the mid or south part of the state, Cherokee is in the NE part. When I have time I will dig into my Blair files to see if I can find him.
