I am a descendant of William Eason Blair, born about 1847. He married Emmaline Helm and had 12 children, one was Virgil Hugh Blair. Virgil Hugh is my grandfather. We have never been able to find any information about Joseph. He just shows up as the father of William E in Tennessee and by 1850, he was gone. Author: RenEsc Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.blair/3637.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you Doug I will take a look, the 1880 census is the one I have, there are a couple of things the family letter says that is different from the 1880 census, but we all know how reliable family memories can be, lol. The letter states that Annie was the oldest born 1869 and was 9-10 years old in 1879 when the parents died and Jim was 7 born abt 1871-1872 and Bill 2 born abt 1876-1877, the 1880 shows Jim being the oldest born abt 1866, I know Bill was the baby and Annie never saw him after he went with the other family and he was shot in his bed at the age of 17, but don't know where he was living. The 1870 has Annie/Elizabeth as the youngest. I have went through all of Thomas Pickards daughters and can't match one to a Blair, the marriages have different surnames for their mother, I believe she is a Pickard because the letter refers to grandpa Pickard and Jim and Annie are living with Thomas Pickard. I'm looking into documents trying to find their father too. Thank you again I am still following up on all th docs you sent me . Author: RenEsc Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.blair/3637/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Annie is my great grandmother and I am looking for her parents. She was born 1869 Texas and has 2 brothers Jim 1871 and Bill 1876. The letter states that the were traveling with their race horse Joe Blair and the family thinks that was the fathers name as well and he was born in Ireland. The parents died in 1879 and it is said grandpa Pickard came to Texas and sold the family belongings, gave part of the money to another family to take Bill and he took Annie and Jim, there is a 1880 census where Annie and Jim are living with Thomas Pickard and are listed as orphans. This leads us to believe the mothers maiden name is Pickard. That is where it dead ends. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
