Her father's name is listed as BLAIR and her mother's name is listed as Ashton, both born in Ontario. Unfortunately I don't have given names. (This is information given to me by a funeral home.) Viola passed away on 21-Oct-1974, and her obit did not divulge any information on her family, just her husband's family (John Edward Funstin 20-May-1905 to 05-Feb-1972). I would appreciate any information, ideas or leads in regards to helping out my family history research. Thanking you in advance, Janet Jones ([email protected])

I have Hiram Blair b ? One census said IL and another said GA. He married Sarah Hewitt But I haven't found a license, They lived in AR and then moved to TX. I found a land patent for him in Washington Co., AR and also one for Elam. Elam died in the 1830s and Hiram terrified at the land board to get the land in Elams wife's name. She said Elam Stanford Blair was Hiram's brother. I thought I would surely find a Stafford connection. But no luck yet. Elizabeth then married a Cate. Could there possibly be a connection? Wanda

Surnames: Blair, Stafford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1ME.2ACEB/766.1 Message Board Post: There must be a connection to my Blair/Stafford family. I have William Blair, born 1748 married to Sibbiah Earl. They were married in 1771 in Effingham County, GA. Children that I know of were William, Mary, Martha, Henry, and Jane. Jane was born abt 1775 and married Robert Stafford. William Blair and his wife Sibbiah were both Revolutionary War participants. Here is a portion of a website (not mine) posted by a Walter Berg. from http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=walterberg2000&id=I6048 William Blair was County Surveyor in Burke County, GA. He was a Rev.War Soldier, serving under Col. Francis Pugh. He died during the latter part of the war, probably from exposure or other hardship and suffering caused by his war service. Bounty land was granted February10, 1784 to his heirs by the state of Georgia. Mrs. Sibbiah Blair furnished supplies to the Revolutionary cause, and her descendants are eligible for membership in the D.A.R. through her service. Mrs.Margaret Davis Cate, well known historian of Coastal Georgia, is a descendant and member on Sibbiah Blair's contribution to the war. Mrs.Cates's DAR Nat. No. is 270594, Linda Atkins
