    1. [BLAIR-L] DNA PROJECT
    2. In yesterday's afternoon "snail mail" I received the DNA samples from my direct male descendant of my BLAIR line. He lives in PA, I am in CA. Within 25 minutes, I had written out the check, repacked the samples, and had them in the mail to the lab in TX. Now for the longest 5 to 7 weeks wait in my life. The whole family is anxiously awaiting the results, it is almost be like waiting for the birth of a baby - except we are hoping for a whole new line of ancestors. "Hey, gr. gr. gr. grandpa, hope to find you and your family soon." My thanks to John and all who put this project together. Barb CA

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1ME.2ACEB/1322.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Hey, I know that many Blair males cannot afford dna testing. that is why three females (who were very interested in our roots) in my family paid for three males to be tested. If you are interested and cannot afford it, ask for donations from the family. I also realize that many families cannot afford it, but as Shawn said, some interesting findings are coming out of the project. Everyone can look at the results and try to help us figure out the pieces of the puzzle. Here is a toast to some breakthroughs in the Blair families in 2004!

Surnames: BLAIR Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1ME.2ACEB/1322.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Unfortunately, Marshall. That's probably true. There are, though, many many Blairs out there and the DNA list is very short in comparison right now. Many Blairs can afford it. It is just a matter of taking an interest (and oiling that Scottish squeak). I suggest any Blair male that can't afford it convince another Blair male in his line to submit his DNA. I wouldn't recommend my brother or 1st cousin necessarily spend the money on the Blair submission as I've already done it. I don't expect much of a difference. Blair daughters and non-participating males can encourage others with the means to submit their DNA for the rest of the immediate family. It _really_ isn't that expensive. It gets even cheaper when a family contributes to the cost. Some very interesting and useful results have come from the DNA submissions to date. Blood links between US Blair lines are emerging that have never been thought of before. Connections to the Blair House of Ayrshire have been made for a number of lines. This evidence does not document or prove our genealogies. It does provide 'evidence' where researchers can now work in more closely related groups and possibly be more focused in their direction. Just another means in the quest that we take on as our genealogy. Happy Hunting, Shawn
