    3. Dear Sue, (BSGR #038-L) I was delighted to see your Blair-L response to Lisa ( [email protected]) and you were exactly right that Henry Brown Blair (1801 - ca.1864) was one of the earliest known ancestors of Arnold Raymond Blair (1910 - 2002). However, Raymond had confirmed one earlier generation before his death. All of his genealogy is on the Blair Society for Genealogical Research website at www.blairsociety.org. Lisa, or any one else interested, need only click on the side bar, "A Raymond Blair" in the public area of our website. You were also right that A. Raymond Blair was the founder of the reorganized BSGR (restarted in 1983). The original BSGR was active from 1925 thru 1931 and ceased to exist after 1937. There is more on this at our website as well. But, of course, you would be familiar with the history and people of the BSGR. You served as a Officer of the BSGR from 1984 thru 1994 and we still greatly appreciate all that you contributed during those years. Incidentally, we are starting to plan for the 2005 BSGR Convention, which will be held in Augusta Co, VA, the home of your earliest known Blair ancestor. Would love to see you again, there. * * * * Dear Lisa, I would welcome all Blair researchers to visit our website if only to peruse the revised articles on the early "Blair Family History" and the "Blair Heraldry" as well as to consider the benefits and advantages of becoming a member of the BSGR. The Blair Society consists of four major interconnecting parts and this combination makes it one of the very best single name genealogical societies.. These parts are (1) our quarterly newsletter, the Blair Family Magazine, (2) our massive Blair Genealogy database, (3) our extensive BSGR website and, (4) last but not least, the active members with their common interest in Blair research of the many lines of descent of the Family of Blair. If I can be of further help, please let me know. Bryce D. Blair BSGR President ******************************************************** On Tue, 3 Aug 2004 [email protected] writes: Looking for info on Henry Brown Blair, b 1801 in Warren Co KY (later Edmonson Co). Nancy married Ward Smith Thomas in Jackson Co, IN in 1833 and then moved on to Marion Co., Illinois. Nancy & Ward are my great grandparents. I have their marriage certificate. Several of Nancy's siblings moved into Illinois, some in Marion Co and some in Gallatin Co and then moved on to Wise Co, Texas. Nancy Louise Tadlock is the niece of my great grandmother. 3. Hi Mary, Any ideas you have in finding my great great grandfather Joseph F. A. Blair would be greatly appreciated. Below are the references I have to Joseph's birth place and where it was found. All except the Birth registration of his first son William have a reference to New York. There were a couple of Joseph Blair's in the Lawrence, MA directory so when I visited Massachusetts a few years ago I checked out Lawence, Massachusetts for his birth and marriage record at their library but could find none and the Joseph Blair's I found there continued appearing in the Lawrence directory for years after I knew that my Joseph was in Stoneham. = = = = Jan 12, 1896 - Lawrence (Birth Registration for son William J. Blair) Aug 12, 1897 - New York (Birth Certificate of son, Augustus Pierce Blair) 1900 Census - Stoneham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts he was listed as 36 born in Oct 1863. in New York. His wife Katie Kent (23) Immigrated from Ireland in 1891 and they had been married for 5 years. Feb 4, 1900 - New York, New York (Birth Certificate of daughter Kathleen Blair) Jan 2 1904 - New York, New York (Death Certificate of daughter Kathleen Blair) = = = = It's like this family just appeared out of no where in 1896 and vanished in 1906 when they sold their home in Stoneham and shortly after the two boys were sent to foster families. William was adopted in Holyoke, MA and my Grandfather Augustus went to Lewiston, Maine as a foster child and was never adopted. I have no idea what happened to Joseph and Katie. Thanks for any help you can offer. This has been my brick wall for many years. Val On 29 Jul 2004, at 17:27, Mary Powers wrote: > Val, does your source say New York City?
