I have just discovered that in addition to my Dorset GILLINGHAMS and HANSFORDS, I am descended from blacksmiths named HILL living in Bramham and Clifford (between York and Leeds) in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries - in particular, according to Baines's Directory of 1822, THOMAS HILL in Bramham, and ROBERT HILL in nearby Clifford.
