Jeff: good for posting the official Rootsweb reminder, and thank you for your careful leeway on this semi-genealogical thread. Pamela - right on! they don't want nor need leaflets, but a soft cookie, maybe oatmeal-raisin would melt resistance faster than any weapon. My girlfriend gave me some cookies she'd baked, and we've been married 35 years! As for the idea of wanting to live in the US in order to hunt through newspapers; it would be a lot cheaper to go to "paperofrecord" (dot-com, i think) If it was an international type story, the Toronto (ontario) daily star has an archive site called "pages of the past" It is difficult to get used to because their "archive" is a recent text archive and "pages of the past" is a separate archive. because there is some sloppiness in their menus, there is some getting-used-to and it is 5 $ cdn for 5 hours of high-speed searching. Should anyone be so inclined, contact me offlist and i'll toss out a few pointers on coping with it. http://www.starclassifieds.com/NASApp/OLCSApp/index.jsp
