Hi, fellow sheepers I'm having a BIG problem getting motivated lately! I have odds & ends that I know I could be searching for, and just can't seem to find the kick in the rear to get going. I haven't done any serious research since last fall, besides gathering the 1930 census reports....haven't even been prettying-up my records! Any thoughts on getting motivated again? Thanks Sue G IBSSG
The best thing I can do when I get that way is to put my "family stuff" aside and bury myself in something else altogether. I have a spot in the shelves on my desk where I can stack everything relating to one project or another in plain sight. After a few days or weeks I will get tired of one thing and move on to the next. Inspiration usually hits at 3 AM on a day when I have to be up to work at 5:30 AM...but you know how that goes. Somewhere in the tiny little rivulets of my mind, questions and curiosities and brickwalls hover like angry bees, waiting until some sleepless night to sting me awake with an absolute need to get something done on that part of the project. Since I have the better part of a dozen stories I am working on, I usually bang away on one of those for awhile. Two more pages of story and I start getting the urge to bury myself in the family stuff again. One of these days I may actually finish a story. =) The family stuff will never be "over." Ca! lvin B. Well, you could try doing something for yurself. Off on a tangent; frivolous; take a name that brought new blood(marriage) into your own family line that you dont really care about and trace it back -- could find an interesting thing thar maybe. And it would be a vacation, and not too important to get it entirely accurate, and just a lark. Suggestion 2: using a drawing program or paint type even find a new way with charts and color to illustrate some genealogic relationship. Suggestion 3. workup a really good new but simple way to graphically show a mapof a cemetery and tie thatto apha index so folks don't have to hunt so much. Be creative.
