    3. Gosh , I didn't think I would be so choked up but I am so proud of her. She looks good in her uniform (tho I will never get used to how fast she consumes a meal nowadays) and she is sooooooooo glad to be out of basic. She is off to Buloxi, Mississippi at midnite. Watching them all march and swear in really brought a swelling in my heart but watching her walk off for the last time with her back straight and never looking back was almost more than I could bear. Of course I watched until she was no longer in site with her lifes review playing in my mind the entire time. When she learned to walk, when she learned to play music, when she had her first date and when she went off to college..........and everything in between those times . She will always be my baby no matter how old , but yesterday , when she walked with her back erect and her military stride, I realized I had just released a young woman into the world , and a good one too. I pray she never has to see war duty as I am sure every mom and dad there did as well. I wish they had given her time to come home before shipping out but it was not to be. I think I shall always remember what she told me. "I need to be a part of something that is bigger, that matters." "I never realized how much I loved my family until now." I can't think of any other two things she could have said to me that could have been more honoring to me or to this country. I am very proud of her and elated that she found a direction but at the same time I feel pretty low, I know that this too shall pass. I began missing her before she was ten steps away from me. Never again will I think of the Riverwalk in San Antonio without relating it to her, it is where we spent her only day off base. A mothers heart........both a blessing and a curse. Evie please pray that she have strength, focus and spiritual integrity.

    3. You should be very pround of your young lady. It does this old heart good to see that so many young men and women volunteer to serve their country. There is nothing greater, that any one can do in this life. And my hat is off to each and every one of them and my prayers and hopes also, go with them. I do believe that maybe we aren't going to hell in a hand basket after all. shadlock wrote: > > Gosh , I didn't think I would be so choked up but I am so proud of her. 3. Shadlock, You should type this up and frame it, it will mean a lot to her now and give it to her for a birthday or Christmas present...but think of what it will mean to her in the future and her children. It has brought a tear to my eyes...it is so beautiful. I enjoy seeing parents proud of their children. In watching the news, I admire so much all branches of the military...but I hate to see them in Harms Way. But they are mature and professional, beyond their years...the teamwork is phenominal...it almost looks choreographed. 3. Is she stationed here? The weather is HOT!! In the mid to high 90s with about 90 to 100 % humidity! Tha sea breeze is the only saving factor. You do need to warn her about sunburn! You can cook down here in 15 minutes! LOL...and that is in Febuary. With the sun reflecting off the salt water it really does not take long and she can be charged and punished for getting a bad burn. Also if you visit bring lots of shorts! But I think you will like Biloxi. It is a lot to do and places to go. you can stay busy and even gamble.
