The only thing that I would add to this, and on a more clinical note, is that this is the amniotic sac that contains the fluid that the baby lives in for 9 mos. before said birth. Generally, this is delivered along with the placenta (afterbirth) and doesn't usually come out as a living veil. Best, SueB
