Hi, Evie! Since I have a lot of that family in my genealogy (paternal side), I would also suggest that you look under the spelling "Coomer". Considering that it's one of the recognised Melungeon family names, you might find relatives with virtually any surname or given name...many of which seem to defy pronunciation! Good luck! It is comer and I have found them under Camer, Coomber, Corner, Cormer and am now checking Conen.............. But if I had a name of 'Chickenstiffle' or 'ilostmywitz'.......it would have been simpler.
