Actually "separation of Church and state" was a termed coined by teh Supreme Court in 1906, previous to that it wasn't an issue. The US is prohibited from ESTABLISHING a religion. Actually the 1832 law would be unconstitutional, it establishes that all MUST fast and Pray. The hocus pocus of the last 96 years have really taken "religion" over the coals, it was an instance of the Supreme court ceasing to interpret laws, and switching to MAKING laws. Jeffery G. Jeff, I totally agree with you. Now, don't fall in the floor! LOL When I was in school, back in the Stone Age, we had prayer in school and Bible reading and the pledge of allegiance every morning over the intercom. I have no problem with it, but personally, I don't think it made much of a difference in anyone's lives. The prayer was the Lord's Prayer. The religion (pentecostal brainwashing) that I was brought up in, didn't recognize that as a "real prayer", because it was one you made up yourself. We had Chinese kids, who were Buddhists, Jewish kids, and a few Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm sure the religious part was offensive to the Buddhists and Jews sometimes. The Jehovah's Witnesses left the room, because of the pledge to the flag. I never heard anyone complain, personally, though. Our teachers also spoke quite often about when integration was coming and some of them made statements that they would quit teaching before the taught N (that famous N word) in front of the entir! e class publicly. Uh-oh, it's time for me to hush. Jinnye [email protected] wrote:Actually "separation of Church and state" was a termed coined by teh Supreme Court in 1906, previous to that it wasn't an issue.
