    3. Hello List, I purposely kept this post on my computer from last year, it was written by me on September 13, 2001. I believe that it is time to resubmit it to the List, in hopes that all of us will search our hearts, asking ourselves are we better Americans that we were at this time last year. Do we still go out of our way to give someone a smile and a hello, even if we don't know them -are we more patient with our children, elder parents, and the many families of immigrants who have come to this country hoping to escape horrors that we can't even begin to imagine. In no way am I saying that we should forget/forgive this horrible thing visited on us September 11, 2001. We should be careful about how we teach our children, they are the ones who will carry on our legacy when we are gone. Please feel free to write me, I'd like to see how others of us are doing. As on September 13, 2001 - please accept this message from me now with Peace and Love. How do you think those people who are still being pulled out as I write this would feel - would they still be alive - if they had given up hope of rescue - or that the people who are working so hard to find them - if they had given up hope at any time. > > HOPE - is exactly what we have to have!!! This is my point - - - none of us can afford nor dare to give up hope as long as there are still tappings in that rubble, people who are brave enough to keep going back in when they know how unstable the area is - and that they might be buried next!! > > I don't like to see us post ugly, hateful things on our List. This is not a time to accuse, we need to be accepting of our diversity, it is a time to heal things of the past - that man has done to man over the years. This is a time for all of us to strong, a time to teach our children and ourselves about different races, religions - and yes - even colors of people. Now is when we need to encourage each other and count our blessings that we are fortunate enough to have our families with us tonight. > > I close in hope that this Post will not be taken in any light other than which it is intended. 3. Marge, That was very well written. I read an article about the day the closed down the recovery work, not that long ago. The last thing they did was go clean off their own window sill of any dust and debree, just in case there was any identifiable DNA there. I have a HS friend (That was 40 years ago) whose daughter was attending college in NYC. Her dorm is about a mile from ground zero. She could see the twin towers from her window. She was awakened by the first hit and was taking pictures out the windo when she caught the second plane as it turned straight towards the second tower. It actually rose slightly from were it turned. Thank God. Maybe a few more lives were spared. Thank God for every peoson who wasn't in those buildings for any reaon who was supposed to be there. Thank God that they were not at capacity. Say a prayer of thanks for everyone who was and did make it out. Say a prayer of rememberance for every one who didn't make it out and every rescue worker that didn't make it out. Thanks to those who didn't tell us all the truth until we had a little time to adjust. Someone who works in my real estate office had a cousin who was killed. I am sure as time goes on I will meet more people who lost a loved that awful day. The civilians on the Pennsylvania plane were awsome beyond words. Now it is our turn to have courage in many big and small ways to bring this country back on track, hOpefully a better track than where it was that day. And yes, I agree that this is no time to be preaching hate. I also believe that if we think the threat is over we are deluded. We have to see this through or we will never stop experiencing the horror of that day.
