Tehachapi is about 20 miles from where the mine IS ( close to my brother's in-laws house) about 15 miles west of Mojave. Lancaster (where Antelope Valley Hospital was built in the late 1960s), is about 40 miles, the only "close full hospital was in China Lake Naval Weapons center, which is a military base. The only full hospital available to the south would have been Palmdale General. almost 60 miles away. Highway 395 crosses Highway 58 at Kramer's Junction (four corners) which is thirty miles EAST of Mojave. (on the other side of BORON). So Tehachapi was closest, even though it was way too late. Some websites state that she was supposedly having an affair with Roy Rogers, but he was in Apple Valley, 45 miles further east, and only later moved to Tehachapi from Apple Valley. There is a WHOLE lot of open desert out there.( for about 400 miles north to Reno, and 100 miles east to Las Vegas) to drop of a body with little hope of it being found. The Antelope Valley is filling fast, but from the Kern County line (Rosamond) north, it is EMPTY. Jeffery G.
