I spent some time working with the Royal Thai AF, and one of the pilots was the Crown Prince. Really nice man. The only country I felt uncomfortable in was the Island of Okinawa, there is a LARGE anti-american feeling there. The Japanese have wanted Kadena closed down for decades, the problem is that many of the local girls are "stepping out" with the GIs, and the families are screaming "rape" everytime it happens. So the atmosphere is a wary one. When I was at Clark AB in the Phillipines there was a real problem with the locals "rolling" the GIs. There were problems in the Basing agreement that basically stated, "if a Fillipino, stole US propery and could make it off base, it was theirs." One day a Firetruck left the property, and now is a LOCAL firetruck,,(before Pinatubo blew). Jeffery G.
