I've known (and been in ministry with and close contact with) several priests as closely as a family member, and having been an active Catholic for all of my long life, I've never known a priest who was a molester or was even accused of it---or even suggested it---and this would number in the hundreds of priests. I don't think that means that there are no bad ones...I just think they are in the minority....but even one is too many! The Church has survived scandals before, and it will make it much stronger to get this rotten wood removed from the foundation. Good analogy on the snakes.... Doris....A Texan in Georgia..... Others will realize that there's some really great men out there in the priesthood and over look the bad for the good. The most important thing will be the way the church handles this.
